The Arrowverse Connection Explained in Superman & Lois Season 2 Finale

Season 2 of Superman & Lois has been exploring the Bizarro World storyline, but one plot point is yet to be explored.

Fans have been questioning Superman & Lois’ lack of Arrowverse connections since it premiered in 2021, even though it is set on the same planet as the franchise’s other shows.

The Arrowverse heroes now have a shared universe with a rebooted continuity following Crisis on Infinite Earths. Superman & Lois, although connected to other DC TV shows on the CW, is yet to mention key players like Supergirl, Clark Kent’s living relative.

According to Superman & Lois showrunner Todd Helbing, these questions will be answered at the end of Season 2.

The Superman & Lois Season 2 finale will finally explain the franchise’s ties with the Arrowverse, with one character being in the middle of it all.

The big mystery is finally close to being solved once and for all with only two episodes left in Superman & Lois Season 2. Helbing discussed the Season 2 finale with TV Insider again, talking about how the show is integrated into the larger Arrowverse.

Helbing confirmed that a pivotal character will explain the franchise ties, without giving away too much detail. Sam Lane, Lois and Lucy Lane’s father, will give a speech in the Superman & Lois Season 2 finale that clearly identifies the show’s connection to this shared universe.

Read Helbeing’s response below:

“[General Lane (Dylan Walsh)] mentions [things] where you’re gonna be like, ‘Wait, what?’ And then he gives a speech that is very clear. You learn everything from him. General Lane has the most inspirational grandfather/father moment that he’s had so far in the series.”

Although Superman & Lois Seasons 1 and 2 lack Arrowverse references, the show has always been set on Earth-Prime. An important Arrowverse plot point was referenced by David Ramsey’s John Diggle in Superman & Lois Season 1.

Diggle’s Green Lantern storyline was also alluded to, in addition to Oliver Queen’s death. According to reports, Ramsey will play a crucial role in setting up Season 3 of Superman & Lois. With Helbing’s comments about Sam Lane, it seems that Season 3 will have a much more direct relationship with the Arrowverse.

There are a few possibilities regarding what Sam’s speech will reveal about Superman & Lois in the Arrowverse. Some people believe that Superman & Lois takes place several years in the future.

Another possibility is that Superman & Lois is still taking place today, but something has occurred between Clark and the other heroes since Crisis on Infinite Earths. There might have been a conflict between Superman and the other Justice League heroes, which could explain why Clark and the others haven’t mentioned them.

However, a bigger mystery remains as to why Kara will not be mentioned, particularly after Superman’s infamous cousin revealed her secret at the series’ end.

It won’t be long before Superman & Lois sets up its place in the Arrowverse following the Season 2 finale next week.
