Ted Lasso S3 E11 Ending: Is Ted Getting Ready to Leave AFC Richmond?

This week on Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso, the titular coach gets a surprise visit from her mother, who he isn’t on friendly terms with since his father’s suicide. Even though the team and the other coaches, plus Rebecca, have a good time with Dotty, Ted privately confronts her about her behavior after her husband killed himself.

After sharing their mutual fears of parenthood and losing a child to life, the two make up. But the episode’s ending suggests that Dotty’s remarks about Henry missing him and Ted wanting to spend more time with his son will lead to his farewell from the show.

He meets with Rebecca after the night when Rupert’s current wife and assistant meet up with her to probably plot against the cheating SOB. Though the episode ends before he can say anything, viewers are positive that Ted is about to resign.

It makes sense that Jason Sudeikis explained that though officially season 3 is not the last, since it hasn’t been confirmed if we’ll get a season 4, the creators are writing it as the end.

After all, AFC Richmond is on its longest winning streak. With only one match between them and the Premier League title, Ted might finally see his dream come true and end his stint at the team on that high note.

Rebecca and Ted

Roy has been cleaning his messes after Rebecca set him straight a few episodes ago. He’s already confessed to Keeley that he wants to be more than friends, and while they haven’t started dating again, I think it’s inevitable. With his love life sorted, Roy could easily take over Lasso’s role at Richmond and ace his in that aspect of his life too.

Oh, but the team will likely lose a core member while regaining another. After quitting West Ham, Nate’s been working with Jade at Taste of Athens. But to push Nate towards what he wants, which was evident after some AFC Richmond members came to bring him back, Jade gets him fired.

While the others were on board with Nate returning, Beard wasn’t initially gung-ho about the idea. Later, he visits Nate and explains how he owes Ted – which is why he can offer Nate the second chance Ted had given Beard when he needed it, accepting that it’d be okay for Nate to return.

The way the penultimate episode ended – AFC Richmond one step away from the trophy, Rebecca joining hands with her ex-husband’s other victims, and Ted possibly leaving the team while Nate decides to join back in, it seems more and more likely that season 3’s last episode will be the series finale.

The last episode is titled “So Long, Farewell,” – and I think that proves my point more than anything about the next week marking the end of the loved Apple TV+ show. What do you think we’ll see in the season 3 series finale of Ted Lasso? Let us know in the comments!

About Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso is an American sports-comedy streaming TV series developed by Bill Lawrence, Jason Sudeikis, Joe Kelly, and Brendan Hunt. It’s based on a character of the same name that Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier League.

It follows the life of Ted Lasso, a coach of college-level American football who is unexpectedly recruited to coach an English Premier League team, AFC Richmond, despite having no experience at all in association football.

It stars Sudeikis as the titular character, Ted Lasso, joined by Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed, Juno Temple, and Sarah Niles among many others.
