Ted Lasso S3 Finale Ending: AFC Richmond Gets New Coach… and Owner?

Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso aired its season 3 finale this week, and with no confirmation for season 4, fans have to appease themselves with this end. With potentially, the last episode of the series, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly write a satisfactory farewell for their characters.

The episode started with Ted confessing to Rebecca that he wanted to return to the States after saying goodbye to AFC Richmond. He and Beard will leave once the Premier League is over, which will be after they go head-to-head with West Ham which will decide if they will play Manchester City in the finals.

Rebecca tries to convince him to stay, but he has his mind set on leaving, and she floats the idea of selling the club. However, that decision must wait. They take on the newly divorced Rupert’s team, who berates his new coach and gets a jeering from the crowd.

The team’s joint effort in getting the win has us all fired up.

West Ham had the upper hand before halftime, but the players brought in the emotional fuel that the team and its coaches needed to bring the team one step closer to victory. They reveal they had the torn-up pieces of Ted’s “Believe” sign and joined it to elate their spirits. After the bell, Isaac scores his first penalty, and Sam shoots the final goal that earns their win.

Nathan was back to working as the team’s kit man, and he apologized to Ted for his previous deeds. Though the team ranks in second place in the League, it’s still enough to count as a happy ending.

After the final, Rebecca decides to sell 49% of the club’s ownership to the fans and goes with Ted to the airport, where she meets the guy, the psychic predicted to be her perfect match – it’s not Ted, but the pilot from Amsterdam.

Beard fakes a medical emergency and stays in England to marry Jane, and Roy becomes the head coach of AFC Richmond. Keeley turns away Roy and Jamie, though the love triangle doesn’t seem to have ended. Sam finally gets to play on the Nigerian team, Jamie makes up with his father, Colin comes out, and Trent publishes his book.

When Trent shows him the book, The Ted Lasso Way, the former Richmond coach asks him to change the title because the journey (the show) was not just about him but the entire team. Trent renames it The Richmond Way, and Lasso oversees Henry’s junior league team while Michelle looks at them happily from the sidelines.

Season 3’s final episode gives its titular character a most happy farewell, so even if the show were to return with a fourth season, it would need a rebranding while focusing on the other main characters.
