Peter Jackson’s Beatles Documentary To Be Released On Thanksgiving

Peter Jackson’s upcoming Beatles documentary series has been announced for a Thanksgiving 2021 release on Disney+. Titled The Beatles: Get Back – A Sneak Peek, the three-part series will reveal unseen footage shot by Michael Lindsay-Hoggs for the world-famous music group’s 1970 film, Let It Be.

Now Variety has reported that the episodes will be aired on the 25th, 26th, and 27th of November, with each of them running for about two hours. Utilizing the same technological wizardry used to restore the footage for Jackson’s World War I documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old, the latest series will show the Beatles in a way never seen before.

Explaining his upcoming project, the director said:

“In many respects, Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s remarkable footage captured multiple storylines. The story of friends and of individuals. It is the story of human frailties and of a divine partnership. It is a detailed account of the creative process, with the crafting of iconic songs under pressure, set amid the social climate of early 1969. But it’s not nostalgia – it’s raw, honest, and human. Over six hours, you’ll get to know The Beatles with an intimacy that you never thought possible.”

Jackson and his crew have been working on the documentary science 2019 and have taken the utmost care into refurbishing and recoloring the old tapes to develop a counter-story of The Beatles’ final days which the original documentary perpetuated. Let It Be has been made unavailable to the public since then, and it also seems unlikely that either of the surviving band members would be interested in revisiting the original form.

The project was announced on January 30, 2019, to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the band’s legendary rooftop performance, which was their final live concert. Jackson, though, released a five-minute preview of Get Back last year, which allowed viewers to take a look at the level of devotion employed by him and his team to achieve the final product.
