The Boys garnered immense popularity with the release of its second season in 2020, leading Prime Video to develop a potential spinoff in September the same year. The series was officially picked up by a studio a year later.

The upcoming spinoff will revolve around a group of young-adult superheroes as they navigate the ups and downs of college life. The college students will be seen competing with each other to land the best Vought contracts upon graduation.

The spinoff will feature an ensemble cast, including Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, London Thor, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn. Agent Carter showrunners, Michele Fazekas and Tara Butter, will be serving as executive producers of the show.

The cast of The Boys recently assembled for a video, which was shared on the official social media handle of the show. In this promotional video, the cast revealed the official title of the upcoming spinoff to be Gen V.

The stars also revealed some more exciting details about the spinoff and explain why Gen V is a show worth waiting for. Thor ended it with a rhetorical question, “Superheroes, college… what could go wrong?” Check out the video below.

The title, Gen V, is a reference to the infamous Compound V, a powerful drug produced by Vought International in The Boys. The compound is the source of power of all superheroes in The Boys.

Gen V is set in a Vought-owned college campus, so the title hints that Vought will not only be housing the future generation of superheroes but will also be making them. Like The Boys, Gen V will also be a dark satire.

Fans can expect the same dark humor and raunchy violence from the upcoming spinoff, as teased by the cast members themselves. The show will involve a lot of blood and violence.

The announcement of the spinoff came just at the right time, after the release of the much-acclaimed Season 3 finale of The Boys. The Boys has also been renewed for a fourth season, so fans have a lot to look forward to in the future.

You can watch The Boys on Prime Video.

About The Boys

The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.

The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
