The Daily Show With Trevor Noah Takes A Two-Month Hiatus

The Daily Show With Trevor Noah will be taking a two-month hiatus over the summer, reveals Comedy Central. The wait will be worth it, teases Noah, with the show returning in September 2021 with a new look and feel.

Only a week ago, TrevorNoah revealed in an FYC interview with Arsenio Hall, that he had a “few surprises” in store for when the show returns from hiatus.

During the pandemic, Trevor has been hosting at home in his now-signature hoodie attire. As September brings in returning to the studio, Noah and his team are working on changes that are very intentional.

A running jovial question to Noah has always been, “When are you going back (to the studio)?” He wittily puts it to rest, “I’m never going back, I’m only moving forward.”

While the show changes will remain a surprise until their grand reveal in September, Comedy Central comes out with yet another update to the previous announcement – The Daily Show is set for an uncharacteristically long hiatus.

In his run as host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah’s holiday breaks have not been longer than two weeks.

This surely is a summer of change then, as The Daily Show announces its hiatus between June 18 to September 13 – the show’s first two-month break in the last few years.

With this hiatus, Noah joins Jimmy Kimmel who also got a longer break negotiated in his latest contract.

Fans shouldn’t worry much about filling the hole left behind by The Daily Show’s hiatus, For, in the meantime, Comedy Central will continue to air new and original content made by the Daily News team that will include field packages, sketches and explainers.

Viewers are also curious about Noah’s wardrobe that has shifted from office formals to “professional” loungewear. Will the big change be that Noah will continue his new-found informal attire even after returning to the studio?

“I might never put on the suit or the shoes or whatever. I don’t know. This is who I am. I think the pandemic has stripped a lot of people of that pomp and ceremony. I think it’s a good thing. We see each other a little bit more. I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to the suits and the leather shoes. If I do, I do. If I don’t, I don’t — but I will no longer think this is something I have to do.”

Noah’s response to Hall not only comes in the disruptive wake of the pandemic, but also is a finger pointing to the universal Black experience of being judged on external appearance. He adds his pandemic-grown afro into the mix – “What is business hair?”

It must not be missed that Noah (and Hall) are one of the very few comedians and performers to have the late-night show spotlight on them.

Noah sure leaves us with a lot of food for thought. Now it’s time for us to leave him to enjoy his break.
