The trailer for the second part of The Flash Season 8 finale just dropped, teasing a final showdown between Barry Allen and Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash. Barry Allen, joined by a team of speedsters, will go up against The Flash’s biggest enemy in a battle royale of speed—but who will emerge victorious?
The eighth season of the show set in the Arrowverse on CW has built up the momentum to its most intense ending yet. Iris West-Allen, played by Candace Patton, has been phasing in and out of the present due to her time-sickness. But amidst the drama in Season 8, she vanishes entirely, only to return to the present at the worst possible moment.
Iris re-materializes mid-fight between Barry (Grant Gustin) and the Forces, where she gets hit by a lightning bolt, passing away as Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh) comes back with his powers intact. So with only the last episode remaining, it remains to be seen how the season ends.
Eric Wallace, the showrunner, has previously confirmed that Barry and Iris will get a happy ending and that death is not on the cards for them. So, fans are still holding out hope to see Barry somehow defeat Thawne while finding a way for Iris to come back.
But, in the finale, Barry must face his nemesis with the help of other speedsters, while still reeling from the sudden death of his wife. The trailer shows speedsters from the past seasons assembling to take down Reverse-Flash once and for all.
As seen in the promo, we see the return of speedsters from the previous seasons through the journey of The Flash. Jordan Fisher’s Impulse and Jessica Parker’s XS are seen in the first part of the finale and will return in the second.
Jon Wesley Shipp, the Golden Age Flash himself, also seems to be returning after Season 8 Episode 6, joined by Kausar Mohammed’s Meena Dhawan, joining Team Flash as Fast Track.
Negative: Part One aired this week, and with Negative: Part Two, which is the finale, airing the next week, the eighth season has a lot to wrap up. Will Barry and Team Flash defeat Eobard Thawne once and for all? Will Iris come back, cured of her time-sickness finally? Or will the remaining plotlines be carried forward to the ninth season, likely to release in 2023?
