The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 8 Speculation

Dr. Lim confronts Salen about the expired medication. This was a direct result of Ethicure cutting corners in order to maximize profits. She tells Salen to keep her lawyers ready because the patient is most likely to sue for their fatal mistake that caused the loss of her child. Salen tells Dr. Lim that discretion is in everyone’s best interest and that she shouldn’t tell the mother the truth until they conduct a thorough investigation.

The accumulation of lies and deceit causes Shaun to have a breakdown. It’s likely that Dr. Glassman will return to San Jose and continue to mentor Shaun. Shaun might tell the patient the real cause of her baby’s death and the hospital will have a major lawsuit on their hands.

Shaun and Lea are looking at wedding venues. As they’re leaving one of the venues they come across the site of a car accident. Shaun rushes to the aid of the woman in the car who happens to be pregnant and she’s rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Glassman meets with a realtor as he’s still set on selling his house and moving to Montana. His ex wife approaches him and asks him for help with her husband’s life threatening case. Glassman conducts the surgery successfully and she expresses her gratitude to them. They talk about the loss of their daughter, Maddie and she tells Glassman that he should stay in San Jose and support Shaun.

Lea finally confesses to Shaun that she changed his scores. She’s extremely apologetic and tells Shaun that the scores don’t reflect the good in him and that the algorithm can’t be reversed if she changes them back. He gets angry with her and tells her to tell Salen the truth.

Meanwhile, the pregnant patient needs to deliver her baby through a c-section. However, the baby isn’t oxygenating and Shaun is called into the surgery. He administers a medication that they later realize was expired and the baby dies minutes later. Shaun is furious and storms into the pharmacy and starts breaking the vials of all the expired medication. Lea comes in and tries to calm him down but he yells at her and tells her he can’t trust her and can’t marry her.

Dr. Glassman comes in and finds Shaun hyperventilating. He tries to calm him down. Shaun tells him he’s a bad mentor for abandoning him and that the baby wouldn’t have died if he was still running the hospital and he breaks down again. Glassman sits next to him and comforts Shaun, who eventually stops crying.
