It has been over a week since NBC decided to change streaming home for its popular sit-com title “The Office.” The shift took place from Netflix to Peacock on January 1, 2021. NBC even released some of the never-seen-before footages for marketing and attracting fans to Peacock.
However, The Office showrunner, Greg Daniels, recently in a conversation with E! News, said that a reunion is on the cards and that the episodes will be set in the show’s original timeline.
Daniels spoke about his ideas for a possible reunion of The Office. He said that instead of zoom calls or flashbacks, the show’s revival is more likely than not.
But since the ending of the who saw the characters move on in their lives from Dunder Mifflin, Scranton, it would have been a pinch to bring the cast back. Hence, the creators are willing to set the episodes in the series’s original timeline before the finale.

“The weird thing about that is when we ended it, we jumped forward a year and a lot of (the characters) aren’t working (at Dunder Mifflin) anymore. But it would be fun to find some lost episodes and shoot them as if they were back in 2010 or something,”

The pandemic left an opening for some of the older shows’ reunions when it was hard–almost impossible to produce new content. The cast of various shows and films would come together on zoom calls and have some scripted conversations in-character.
One such show among the many was “Parks and Recreation,” another workplace sitcom by Greg Daniels (with co-creator Micheal Schur).
The show had the cast do a thirty-minute zoom call with scripted conversations for them to read in-character. The “Parks and Recreation” cast raised $3 million for a COVID-19 response fund.
Even eight years after the end of The Office, the show has a strong fan base. And since so many other shows were getting reunions, fans would naturally hope to reunite the Dunder Mifflin employees.
Hopefully, the new revival episodes will win over fans who are upset about The Office leaving Netflix and help to attract new fans to the series.
