The Orville Season 3 Episode 4 Recap
The crew has been tasked with escorting a Union delegation to the homeworld of the Krill so they may sign a momentous treaty. When Admiral Halsey informs Ed Mercer that Teleya is running for Supreme Chancellor and has gained support because of her populist rhetoric, things become problematic. Telaya’s win would mean the treaty would no longer be a possibility due to her hostile approach.
The current Chancellor is projected to win, encouraging the Delegation to go forward with their visit. However, Teleya stages a coup and assassinates Chancellor Koran and intends to kill the Delegation as well, with the only exception of Mercer due to their history. Mercer is released from imprisonment and a group of Krill that still support the alliance approach him.
They inform him of the existence of a half-human half-Krill child, who is revealed to be Mercer and Telaya’s daughter. Mercer confronts Telaya about this, who promptly tells him she doesn’t want to reveal her daughter due to the impact it could have on her populist support and power. She sends Mercer back into imprisonment to be assassinated along with the rest of the delegation.
