1. Episode 10 Synopsis/Speculation
Episode 9 ended with Sam taking charge and deciding to go after the source of his problems – his father. With his decision to make one last kill to end it all, Sam leaves to murder his father.
Episode 10 will probably take it up from there. But we don’t think Sam’s father will be his last kill. We can expect an emotional time ahead for Sam, who will come face to face with his abuser after all these years.
Alan’s failed escape attempts so far make us pray that luck should shine on him in the upcoming finale. Will he escape or will Sam set him free, showing first signs of recovery?
A curious connection between two Jewish prison survivors who are also therapists, Viktor Frankl and Alan Strauss, is intriguing to us. Alan recently rediscovered his meaning of life, fixing his family, and his advice to Sam on the same gave us an idea. What if, like Frankl, this Jewish therapist also finally gains his freedom?
The next episode is titled “The Cantor’s Husband,” and as we all know, that means Alan Strauss. The focus will be on Alan if the title suggests anything, so the chances of him escaping or being rescued look good.

5. Episode 9 Recap
Dr. Strauss plans a desperate escape attempt with his makeshift shiv. He advises Sam to make meaningful relationships and find his life’s purpose, beginning with Mary.
Sam goes with Dr. Strauss’ advice, but after an awkward brunch, Mary departs making it clear to him that things will never be the same between them again. In a flurry of sadness, Sam explains that he doesn’t want to feel this way, rehashing his point that it’s not working.
Alan points out that life has to be felt in its entirety, and Sam’s previous attempts to react against the slightest insults aggressively and his trauma with his father has led him to this mess.
Sam connects Alan’s deduction with his father being the root cause of his problems. He explains how serial killer Edward Kemper’s murders stopped after he killed his mother.
Sam decides to take out a page of Kemper’s book and murder his father. Alan tries to stop him but to no avail.
