The Suicide Squad writer/director James Gunn is known for interacting and answering fan questions via social media. So understandably, he’s constantly receiving tons of questions from fans who are curious to find out more about his projects.
One such Twitter user asked Gunn the reason his movies have post-credit scenes, and his answer will make you appreciate the director for being so considerate towards his crew.
Gunn replied to the tweet:
They’ll live. The grips & gaffers & PAs & roto artists & so on committed months of their lives to the movie you’re watching for a lot less money & praise than me & the actors. So read their names! 🙌 This is why I’ll always have something after the credits for people who stay.
After all, making a movie is teamwork that requires a massive crew that works relentlessly for months to deliver a good movie. Therefore, the bigger the production, the longer is the list of names during the credits.
This shows just how many people are involved in making a film that we watch in the span of 2-3 hours. The least the audience can do is stay till the end for a few minutes more as a gesture to thank them.
The new Suicide Squad film is based on John Ostrander’s comic. It follows a group of supervillains who become a part of a group called Task Force X. They have been left on an island and must complete their mission of saving the world before they’re allowed to leave.
The film is neither a sequel nor a full reboot of the 2016 version. Instead, it is simply ‘James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.’ Another thing worth noting is that this new version is R-rated, so fans are definitely in for a wild ride.
Mid-credit and Post-credit scenes have become fairly common, especially for superhero franchises like MCU and DCEU. Sometimes these scenes are just something fun for the audience to stick around for, or they hint at sequels & future storylines in that universe.
Fans will have to wait till The Suicide Squad opens in theaters and on HBO Max on August 5 to see what surprises its post-credit scenes hold.
