During the launch of Warner Bros’ rebranded Max streaming service, the trailer for The Regime featuring Winslet was unveiled.

In the opening scene, Winslet meets a US representative to discuss terms. She asks respect for her citizens but is asked to establish credibility first.

This contradicts many other scenes in the trailer which portray intense situations. There are also some scenes portraying Winslet as eccentric, such as the scene where she takes a selfie with her assumed family. The series is slated for a 2024 release and will be available for streaming on both HBO and Max.

According to the logline of the series, The Regime will focus on the events of a modern European regime as it gradually falls apart. All off this takes place within the span of one year behind the palace walls.

Will Tracey serves as the showrunner, executive producer, and writer for The Regime. Tracey has prior experience of working on successful black comedies like The Menu and the much-acclaimed series, Succession. The show will be directed by the Oscar nominated Stephen Frears and Emmy winner Jessica Hobbs.

The expertise and experience of the creative team in the political and satirical genres hint that The Regime will be a highly anticipated show in this genre.

The Regime marks Kate Winslet’s fourth collaboration with HBO. She is also set to produce another project for the streaming platform. Given the previous success of this partnership, it is highly probable that this new venture will be a hit.
