The Rings of Power Season 1 Episode 4: Release Date, Recap, and Speculation

Episode 3 of The Rings of Power premiered on Prime Video on September 9, 2022. A new threat emerges in the form of Adar, the Orcs’ new leader, who Arondir fears is another name for Sauron himself. 

Galadriel unearths that the rise of Morgoth’s successor Sauron is inevitable, and he will first bring the Southlands to its knees, followed by all of Middle Earth. Are the two threats the same? Will The Stranger play a part in the rise or fall of Sauron? The upcoming episode will cover the stories of Elrond, Durin, Bronwyn, and Theo.

1. Episode 4 Synopsis/Speculation

The Rings of Power has not released an official synopsis for Episode 4, but a preview for the upcoming episode has been released on Prime Video.

Halbrand may have been descended from Morgoth’s followers, but he may yet prove his significance in defeating Morgoth’s successor in the upcoming episodes. Episode 4 will also focus on Theo’s role and the mystery weapon that he activated.

Elrond may find what the dwarves are making and confront Durin in Episode 4, rehashing a fight after their recent reunion. The episode will also explain Numenor’s decision to sever ties with the elves and Queen Regen Miriel’s role in it.

Adar’s reveal as the leader of the Orcs may either confirm Sauron’s return or introduce an entirely new threat to the races and realms of Middle-Earth.

2. Episode 4 Release Date

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 Episode 4 will be available for streaming from September 16 onwards.

No delays have been announced, and the show will return with weekly episodes every Friday.

5. Episode 3 Recap

Arondir and his company of Elven watchmen have been captured by the Orcs. The camp’s passages lead to Hordern and beyond, and someone must report to Gil-Galad. But the revolt of the elves goes poorly, and Arondir’s partner and leader lose their lives. Arondir will come face-to-face with Adar, the Orcs’ new leader.

Nori the Harfoot tries to sneak the meaning of the stars to The Stranger, but instead, the giant accidentally burns the script and reveals himself to the Harfoot camp. Nori’s “decaravaning” is instigated by the others, but Sadoc lets the Brandyfoots go on with the others. Nori’s family and the Stranger move on with the other Harfoots.

Galadriel and Halbrand are rescued by Numenor Sea Captain Elendil. Numenor’s Queen Regent Miriel tasks Elendil to keep the unwelcome Elf in check, and Halbrand gets into trouble with the Numenor folk. Galadriel unearths Sauron’s threat to the Southlands and then all of Middle-Earth.

Galadriel confronts Halbrand, who she found was a royal descendant of the human king who swore loyalty to Morgoth in the great war. She allies with him to redeem the name of their ancestors as the one who sided with the enemy and the one who started the war.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is an American TV series, based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, developed by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay for streaming on Amazon Prime. 

Set 3,000 years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the show will be set in the Second Age of Middle-earth. Beginning with a time of peace, the series will follow the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron and the forging of the rings of power.
