The Rock is Back! Dwayne Johnson Returns to Fast X After Diesel Drama

Dwayne Johnson is returning to the Fast and Furious series with Fast X, after a long and notorious conflict with Vin Diesel.

Johnson joined the series in Fast Five as Luke Hobbs, a DSS Agent who chased Diesel’s Dom Toretto and his crew in Brazil. In later movies, they teamed up to face different enemies.

But behind the scenes, Johnson and Diesel had a big clash during The Fate of the Furious, which made him leave the series, except for the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw.

Before the movie hits theaters worldwide, Fast X had its world premiere in Rome this week, where Diesel, who is both a star and a producer of the film, hinted at a Fast and Furious 12 in the making.

Now, according to The Wrap, Dwayne Johnson’s comeback to the Fast and Furious series is confirmed as he plays Luke Hobbs again in the post-credits scene of Fast X. The details of the scene are still unknown at the moment.

Since the film only reveals Johnson’s comeback as a post-credits surprise, it might not be shocking that his Fast X role has been hidden from the public during its making, which faced its own troubles with the original director quitting over creative issues and a rising budget.

It might be shocking that he is back at all, though, given how intense his and Diesel’s conflict was in public, which involved Johnson turning down Diesel’s request on Instagram for him to come back.

It’s not clear if the two have settled their differences, but Fast X is still the best movie to bring Johnson back to the main series. The next sequel mostly continues the story of Fast Five, where Johnson’s Hobbs first appeared, with Jason Momoa’s Dante wanting payback for his father’s death by Dom and his crew.

Even though Dom and Hobbs were not allies in the movie, their later collaborations probably have made Johnson’s DSS agent a target.

If Diesel’s hint about the third part is true, it would not only make sense for Johnson to be a key player in it again but also use one of the next movies to lead into Hobbs & Shaw 2.
