Black Adam: WB Feels Pressure from The Rock for the Return of Cavill’s Superman

Henry Cavill has not donned Superman’s red cape after the 2017 film Justice League. But upcoming film Black Adam’s actor Dwayne Johnson has made promises at several events that Cavill’s return might be a possibility in the superhero movie coming out this October.

Dwayne Johnson’s comments on Superman’s return at Comic-Con received tremendous backlash. But the effect might be desirable. After DC’s panel at SDCC, the trending topic was not the DCEU’s upcoming three mega films but the demand to bring Henry Cavill back.

Maybe Dwayne knew what he was doing when he commented at the Comic-Con panel, even more so than people would give him credit for. The comment? Tap the link below to see what was The Rock’s answer when asked who’d win in a fight between Black Adam and Superman.

Henry Cavill may not have returned after the failed storyline he was supposed to justify for Superman in the SnyderVerse, which WB canceled, but Superman cameos have occurred in the DCEU after Justice League. A headless cameo of the superhero was shot in Shazam!, and Peacemaker also featured a shadowy cameo of Kal-El.

Johnson’s comment established that it depends on WB which hero will be cast as Superman in Black Adam. Tyler Hoechlin has played Superman in the CW’s Arrowverse as well as the Superman & Lois series, while Brandon Routh has played Clark Kent multiple times over the years, too. This gives WB the chance to cast Superman without involving Henry Cavill.

But The Rock has made it clear that for him, Henry Cavill is the definitive Superman in an interview with Comicbook, after Comic-Con. Even though Black Adam director Jaume Collet-Serra has confirmed that neither Superman nor Shazam will be making an appearance in the upcoming DCEU film, Johnson has given fans hope again and again.

But then again, this might be another one of Dwayne’s strategies to promote his movie. While his supervillain might not be famous before the film’s announcement, a probable fight between him and the Man of Steel would bring hopeful fans to the theaters for his 2022 film.

Whether The Rock is hyping up Henry Cavill’s Superman for his own benefit or the return of his close friend back into the DCEU is still unclear. But his comments have surely led the fans to clamor for a Superman cameo in Black Adam. Who knows, WB might get coerced into giving what the actor and the fans have been asking for.

About Black Adam

Black Adam is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics fictional supervillain, directed by Jaume Collett-Serra. It is a spinoff of the 2019 movie Shazam!, and the 11th film in the DCEU franchise.

Black Adam is the antihero to Shazam and possesses the same powers as the white-caped superhero. But after being imprisoned for 5000 years, he is finally free, and now, the Justice Society of America, a team of superheroes, must stop him before he fulfills his mission to wreak havoc on the world that rejected him.

The film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Black Adam, and joining him are cast members Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Pierce Brosnan, and Viola Davis.
