A new image from The Suicide Squad shows Idris Elba’s Bloodsport escorting Thinker through a bar. The Thinker, played by Peter Capaldi, is a hyperintelligent metahuman supervillain with telepathic and telekinetic abilities.
Directed by James Gunn, the upcoming DCEU film has been described as a hybrid reboot/sequel to David Ayer’s SuicideSquad from 2016. The Suicide Squad is set to release on August 6, 2021.
The Suicide Squad is neither a reboot nor a sequel according to Gunn, but it will be an R-rated action movie featuring a combination of new obscure DC villains and some familiar faces from the first movie.
Given that Task Force X is pretty much invested in its change of wardrobe, it seems that whatever information that they are trying to get is vital to the success of their overall mission.
The image shows Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, David Dastmalchian’s Polka Dot Man, Peter Capaldi’s Thinker, and Daniela Melchoir’s Ratcatcher 2 looking anxious as they try to navigate the mysterious location.
This new image appears to be taken moments before the dance montage that The Suicide Squad trailer already teased.
Bloodsport, Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher 2, and Thinker might have gone to this bar for business. It is currently unknown how Idris Elba’s team of villains ended up at this peculiar bar.
Although it’s possible that this is an undercover mission to save a member of the team. Orelse it can be that the team is there to recruit Thinker.
Character posters for the film tease a connection between Thinker and Starro, The Suicide Squad‘s giant alien starfish villain.
Gunn did confirm that this version of Thinker isn’t Clifford DeVoe, so The Suicide Squad could surprise even hardcore DC fans with his role potentially.
