Tomorrow War Trailer: Chris Pratt Battles Alien Invaders in New Movie

The official trailer for Amazon Prime’s upcoming futuristic sci-fi action film The Tomorrow War has been released.

Starring Chris Pratt, the movie follows his character, a high school teacher recruited to fight in a war against alien invaders thirty years into the future. It will be released on July 23.

Following the teaser from last month, Amazon officially released the full trailer for The Tomorrow War yesterday. Almost three minutes long, the clip sets the basis for the time travel in the movie with the soldiers arriving from the future to battle their extraterrestrial enemies.

Dan Forester (Chris Pratt) is among the enlisted and, as the trailer shows, is ready to set out for the noble cause of fighting for humanity. Check out the trailer here:

The clip traces the initial beats of Dan’s life, from being a family man till he is drafted and taken into the future. Lieutenant Hart (Jasmine Matthews) explains to the troops that they have only eleven months to prevent the entire human race’s eradication.

Considering the big stakes involved and the action sequences shown so far, The Tomorrow War could deliver on all fronts it has set up to yet. However, the alien horde has been kept away from sight mostly, with only quick glimpses and faraway shots to prove their existence.

Albeit frustrating to fans, this seems like an excellent strategy to keep viewers hooked on the mystery of their appearance leading up to the movie. But irrespective of the dire events, the trailer does offer some comedic relief.

Pratt retains his humorous style of acting and smoothly merges wise-crack jokes into the film’s grim narrative by poking fun at the tests he has to undergo and his backstory.

Although the comedic routine might seem a bit too much given the circumstances, that sentiment could change when the movie finally makes its debut.

Initially slated for a December 2020 release, The Tomorrow War was pushed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, its theatrical release was thwarted after Amazon Studios acquired the distribution rights in April, which means it will be digitally released on Prime Video.

Joining the ranks of movies like Coming 2 America and Michael B. Jordan’s Without Remorse, The Tomorrow War is the latest to have such a release. Now with little over a month to go, it remains to be seen whether the movie is a success or not.
