The Walking Dead Final Season, Zombies, The Commonwealth and More!

The Walking Dead will culminate in its upcoming Season 11. The latest trailer, released July 29, reveals that the 24 “last” episodes will be nothing short of intense and hair-raising.

The AMC-run TV series will premiere on August 22, the first episode titled Acheron: Part I. As the trailer teases, the residents of Alexandria will have quite a few problems on their hand, shortage of food (in episode 1) being part of it. They will venture out of their safe heaven into the torn-down Washington DC.

A few other moments captured within the trailer show Ezekiel, Eugene, Yumiko and Princess, who are still in the Commonwealth’s custody. Episode 2 titled Acheron: Part II will have the captives figuring out what the Commonwealth is and their true intents. The Commonwealth is the season’s main arc.

The trailer also has Negan in focus, as the season will finally explore certain events of his past with wife Lucille. He voices out the trailer’s title in the edgy dialogue, “That is God telling us to turn around.”

While what exact danger Negan is alluding to will remain unknown for now, it is safe to say that there will be many, many moments within the final season’s life-threatening plot, where the characters will want to turn around and retreat into a safer location.

As dedicated fans know, The Walking Dead’s story is far from over. Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond and a few other planned spin-offs (Tales of the Walking Dead, Dead in the Water, etc) will carry this undead universe forward.

And of course, for good or for bad, we will come back to Rick Grimes. Although its been a while since the Grimes movie trilogy was announced (in 2018), we have a feeling that Season 11 will definitely work towards that story.

Your favorite zombie action returns to screens, The Walking Dead on AMC, August 22. If you’d like to watch a week early, it will be available to stream on AMC+ on August 15.

About The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a neo-western horror drama that is based on the comic book series of the same name written by Robert Kirkman. It currently stars Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and others.

Rick Grimes, a sheriff’s deputy, wakes up from a coma to find that the world has just gone through a zombie apocalypse. He soon realizes that the world is divided into the zombies- the ‘walkers’- and a group of survivors who will do anything to survive.

The recent season, that is season 11, will adapt material from issues #175–193 of the comic book series and focuses on the group’s encounter with the Commonwealth, a large network of communities that has advanced equipment and almost fifty thousand survivors living in their different settlements.
