Geralt & Ciri Arrive At Kaer Morhen In The Witcher Season 2 Teaser

Toss a coin to your Witcher cause he is finally coming back. Netflix hosted its first-ever WitcherCon and came bearing gifts and announcements of all kinds.

So far, they have unveiled a new poster, title, and logo reveals for its episodes, a teaser trailer, and a premiere date for Season 2 of The Witcher (and sheet music to our favorite ‘Toss A Coin To Your Witcher,’ in case you wish to serenade your own monster-hunter).

Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher book series premiered in 2019. Season 1 ended with Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri’s timelines intersecting during the series finale and Geralt and Ciri finally meeting each other. The two-minute teaser trailer focuses on Geralt and Cirilla’s journey post-season 1.

The teaser starts with Ciri asking Geralt, “So, I’m your destiny?” as she is his ward due to the Law of Surprise. Geralt replies to this, saying, “You’re much more than that, Cirilla.”

Chills.

We see Ciri, Geralt, and his beloved horse, Roach travel to Kaer Morhen, a place where Geralt and witchers of the School of the Wolf trained. Geralt is training Ciri with a wooden training sword and preparing her. We see glimpses of the amazing swords and weapons at Kaer Morhen.

Ciri is heard saying, “Sometimes I feel so afraid, I feel like I could burn the whole world.”

Okay… I guess? Hope Ciri doesn’t pull a Daenerys Targaryen on us.

The teaser ends with Fringilla looking at Yennefer as she wakes up, worn out and lying against a tree.

There’s a lot of chaos in the tiny teaser. The overall theme seems much darker compared to Season 1. A lot of new faces are seen in the teaser, and Jaskier is also seen for a split-second (absolutely need a Jaskier and Yennefer reunion).

Netflix’s official synopsis for Season 2 reads,

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

The new poster also shows Geralt and Ciri approaching Kaer Morhen. The show is one of the most popular fantasy franchises since Game of Thrones. The Witcher gains a lot of its fan following thanks to the novels as well as the popular video game series, also based on Sapkowski’s books.

The second season met with many hindrances during its production as the pandemic resulted in production delays in March 2020, just a few days after it had begun. Then, with some more COVID-related delays, production on Season 2 finally wrapped in April this year.

Apart from the show, The Witcher has a limited series prequel spinoff in the works titled The Witcher: Blood Origin, which will be set in an elven world 1,200 years before Geralt’s time, and an anime film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, will be releasing August 23, 2021.
