Rebecca Struggles To Hold Onto Past Memories In This Is Us S6 Trailer

The official trailer for the hit NBC show, This Is Us, is here, and keep your tissue box close by because it promises a tear-jerking goodbye.

This final season will be a farewell to the Pearsons when the series premieres in January, and the trailer reminds us that “stories may end, but memories are forever.”

The trailer begins with Rebecca saying, “I’m losing my memory. Sometimes I think about what my very last memory will be before the candle goes out,” as an older version of her struggles with Alzheimer’s.

Jack & Rebecca

There are glimpses of her and Jack’s life before their kids were born, as if her memories are taking us back into the past.

We see scenes from previous seasons as well, including one from season 1 where Kate sings ‘Time After Time’ by Cyndi Lauper in a waiting room as Toby watches. The whole clip has her voice echoing in the back, making the mood of the trailer even more reminiscent.

Rebecca adds that she isn’t scared of forgetting the big moments, but it’s the tiny details and the little things she’s “not ready to let go of yet.”

There are montages of different moments like Rebecca dancing for Jack, the Big 3 chant, Randall’s goodbye to William, and Jack escaping the fire.

Some newer shots include Kate and her fiancé Phillip, Kate and Kevin at a birthday celebration, Déjà and Malik dancing together at the school dance, the Big 3 together having heartfelt moments, among others.

Jack has some assuring words as he says,

The kids are old enough to start making memories. Important stuff they’re gonna remember for the rest of their lives.

Jack

Until the day is over, there is always a chance you’ll remember it for something else.

Although we see all the main characters in these shots, it’s evident that Rebecca cherishing her memories while battling Alzheimer’s is going to be at the heart of the story.

Time and time again, creator Dan Fogelman has said that this season will be an emotional rollercoaster, especially for Rebecca’s journey.

This Is Us will premiere its final chapter on Tuesday, January 4 at 9/8c on NBC.

About This Is Us

This Is Us is a Dan Fogelman-created American drama television series that debuted on NBC on September 20, 2016. On October 27, 2020, the fifth season will premiere. It was announced in May 2021 that the sixth season would be the series’ final.

The tv series follows the lives of three siblings, Kevin, Kate, and Randall (nicknamed the “Big Three”), along with their parents, Jack and Rebecca Pearson. It takes place primarily in the current time and employs flashbacks to illustrate their personal past.

Most episodes feature a storyline set in the present (2016–2021) and a storyline set at a particular time in the past; even so, some episodes are set in only one time period or use multiple flashback time periods. Flashbacks frequently centre on Jack and Rebecca in 1980, both before and after the birth of their children, or on the family when the Big Three are still children or adolescents (and played by two sets of younger actors).
