Christian Bale’s Bald Transformation in Thor 4 Looks Deceptively Real

Christian Bale’s transformation as Gorr the God Butcher during reshoots of Thor 4 was so real that it would make anyone believe he really shaved his head.

Special Effects makeup artist Bart Mixon posted several photos on his Instagram to showcase Bale getting ready to essay the bald supervillain.

While it may seem that the actor shaved off his hair, the flawless head, complete with a few glimpses of nerves and pores seamlessly blending into his neck—was all prosthetics.

Mixon used the award-winning Odd Studios prosthetics to create the look.

In the caption, he also mentioned that the actor was actually bald during principal photography, but it couldn’t be possible to do the same at the refilming. Hence, the look was recreated into an incredibly real-looking bald head.

Mixon’s makeup was so realistic that even director Taika Watiti commented that no one would need bald people anymore. He also mentioned teammates Hugo Villasenor and Kevin Wasner, with whom he worked for Bale.

Thor 4, although light-hearted, will pack an intense punch with the supervillain’s storyline. Gorr aims to rid the universe of Gods after having a traumatic experience that is still under wraps

As per comic lore, Gorr used to be a God-loving man, but when his family was mercilessly killed, he sought revenge from the very Gods that he used to love. He then became the God Butcher, vowing to kill all and every God.

Gorr’s look in the movies is slightly different from the source material, but Bale looks both menacing and vicious.

Chris Hemsworth even commented on Bale’s off-camera presence, calling it “really intense” in an interview. He said,

“The rest of us would be in our world of improvisation, comedy, and fun—then he’d walk on set, and we’d all look at each other and say, ‘Oh, my God! This is really intense. This is really scary.”

Meanwhile, tickets are now open for pre-booking Thor: Love and Thunder worldwide. The movie will hit the screens on July 7.

About Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder is a MCU movie and the fourth installation in the Thor series. It is directed by Ragnarok’s director, Taika Waititi, and will show Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman reprising their roles as Thor Odinson and Dr. Jane Foster.

The movie will be based on The Mighty Thor comics in which Thor Odinson loses the ability to lift Mjolnir, and Jane Foster takes on the role of Mighty Thor. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor teams up with The Guardians of the Galaxy for a short time, leaving Valkyrie as the ruler of New Asgard. But Thor returns to team up with Korg, Valkyrie and Jane’s Mighty Thor to take down Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) – before he takes out all the gods in existence.

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson return for Watiti’s second go, while Russell Crowe and Natalie Portaman join Taika’s project for the first time. The movie is out on July 8, 2022.
