Thor: Love & Thunder Merch Art Shows the Final Look of Gorr the God Butcher

Thor: Love and Thunder might not have a trailer yet, but it looks like the film’s promotional art and merchandise is almost ready to make up for the delay, revealing the best look at its main villain, Gorr the God Butcher.

Just days after Shop Disney UK updated its website to reveal the official art for Thor and Mighty Thor, leaked pictures of the film’s line of upcoming Marvel Legend action figurines by Hasbro have surfaced online.

The figures stacked in their solo character boxes include Thor, Ravager Thor, King Valkyrie, Jane Foster/Mighty Thor, along with Star-Lord and Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, the most anticipated and shocking reveal might be Christian Bale’s Gorr.

As the boxes have each character’s official concept art images printed on them, it gave a clearer look at Gorr’s design. Fans were disappointed to find out the MCU version of the villain bore little to no resemblance to his comics counterpart.

Gorr Package Art:

The rest of the characters look fine with just tiny tweaks and upgrades to their looks. However, with Gorr being a new character, his design was something many fans were looking forward to.

According to the comics, Gorr has a very alien and distinct look that makes him stand out. As pale as he is, the long face, tentacles, and black cloak make up his perfect monochromatic look.

As previous set photos had shown Bale in plain white clothing, it was speculated that maybe CGI would be used to enhance and add on other details to make him look more comic-accurate.

However, presuming the promotional art and figurine show the character’s final look, it simply makes him look like a human with pale white flesh. We half-expect this look to be upgraded to reveal a “transformation” of sorts when he gets his sword, All-Black/Necrosword.

Previous villains like Thanos have not disappointed, so not all hope is lost. Still, fans might have to wait until the trailer drops to find out how the villain looks in motion.

There’s no doubt Bale would do a splendid job to bring the alien (who’s set on killing all the Gods) to life. Although, it can’t be denied that character designs heavily impact how majestic and menacing a villain looks.

Fan reactions:

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a theatrical release on July 8.
