Leaked Thor: Love and Thunder Mid-Credits and Post-Credits Scenes Explained

MCU films have always had a shroud of secrecy around them, but that still hasn’t stopped fans from finding out and revealing the spoilers for any project. Thor: Love And Thunder has been lucky to have survived leaks before its release—until now.

The fourth film in the Thor film series features two after-credits scenes, which have been leaked a day before its release. And to top it off, sources have confirmed that the mid and post-credits leaked descriptions and clips are genuine.

SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from Thor: Love And Thunder.

After the red-carpet premiere of the Phase Four MCU film, descriptions of the after-credits scene floated onto the internet. The mid-credits scene featured an injured Zeus (Russel Crowe) ordering his son Hercules to take down the superheroes, who are posing as gods in the eyes of the public.

Zeus, of course, was referring to “the Strongest Avenger,” a.k.a Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and from the trailer itself, we have seen a certain hostility between Hemsworth’s Thor and Crowe’s Zeus. New clips of the leaked scenes have confirmed that Hercules is played by Ted Lasso actor Brett Goldstein.

This after-credits scene confirms two little facts from the movie itself. Russel Crowe’s Zeus, who according to fan speculation had not survived in the film, will most certainly be alive by the end of it, even if gravely injured.

The second little takeaway fans can assume from the after-credits scene is the unfinished story of Hercules’ revenge upon Thor and the Avengers. This little detail has given fans hope to see Goldstein’s Hercules in future MCU projects, and the excitement as to what threat he shall pose to Earth’s superheroes is worth waiting for.

The second after-credits scene has brought back a beloved character from the Thor film series, who had presumably died at the hands of Thanos and his children in Avengers: Infinity War. You guessed it right—the post-credits scene shows Heimdall (Idris Elba) welcoming Jane’s Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman) into Valhalla, revealing two major spoilers in one clip.

The post-credits scene’s more obvious spoiler is Heimdall’s return and a possible new storyline for any spinoffs or future projects relating to the Norse Gods. Heimdall thanks Jane for having saved his son, a mysterious new entry we may or may not see in the film.

The bigger takeaway, and more devastating spoiler, that we can decode from this clip is that Jane’s Mighty Thor dies in Thor: Love and Thunder.

We know Heimdall has already died in the MCU, and we see him welcome Jane, suddenly appearing out of the mist into Valhalla wearing white attire usually visually signifying the dead. It is safe to assume her dead, since Valhalla is the land of the fallen warriors, The Norse people’s idea of heaven.

Whether this was at the hands of Gorr, The God Butcher, or due to the cancer storyline previously explained in the comics that inspired Jane’s return to the series, can only be confirmed in the film.

Thor: Love And Thunder is now out for public viewing in theaters, and fans can unravel other twists and cameos on the big screens themselves. But after the leak of the credits scenes, who’s to say what plans the future holds for the two new faces of the MCU? What fate awaits Goldstein’s Hercules and Heimdall’s unnamed son now, we’ll have to wait and find out

About Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder is a MCU movie and the fourth installation in the Thor series. It is directed by Ragnarok’s director, Taika Waititi, and will show Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman reprising their roles as Thor Odinson and Dr. Jane Foster.

The movie will be based on The Mighty Thor comics in which Thor Odinson loses the ability to lift Mjolnir, and Jane Foster takes on the role of Mighty Thor. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor teams up with The Guardians of the Galaxy for a short time, leaving Valkyrie as the ruler of New Asgard. But Thor returns to team up with Korg, Valkyrie and Jane’s Mighty Thor to take down Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) – before he takes out all the gods in existence.

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson return for Watiti’s second go, while Russell Crowe and Natalie Portaman join Taika’s project for the first time. The movie is out on July 8, 2022.
