Tink, a New Tinker Bell Spinoff, in the Works at Disney

The spoiled, jealous, and very relatable Tinker Bell will be gracing our screens soon, with an entire show solely for her!

First seen in Peter Pan as a side character, Tinker Bell became a hit and even an unofficial mascot of Disney. The small, green-dressed, hair-in-a-bun fairy became a favorite of many, and after eight movies, she’s finally getting her own TV show.

According to Deadline, Tink, a spin-off of Peter Pan’s version of Tinker Bell, the Beauty and the Beast prequel series, and a whole lot more are currently being developed.

How did this decision come about? Well, as Deadline states, the President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Branded Television, Gary Marsh, is stepping down from his position after an incredible 33-year run at the end of 2021.

However, Marsh isn’t leaving Disney. He is launching his own production company and will be working closely with the company’s linear and streaming platforms—Disney+, Disney Junior, Disney Channel, Hulu, ABC, National Geographic, Freeform, ABC, and FX.

Even though the company’s name is not yet revealed, the inaugural slate of movies and series is out in the open now, and one of them is Tink.

Tink is not to be confused with the live-action film of the same name, though. Disney has been developing the live-action Tink since 2010, with Elizabeth Banks as the lead character.

In 2015, reports of Reese Witherspoon replacing Banks emerged, but there have been no updates since then.

It seems that Disney is changing their medium of storytelling from live-action movies to TV shows.

It will also be a different project from the upcoming Peter Pan & Wendy movie, slated for a 2022 release.

Marsh has been the frontrunner behind Disney’s iconic shows such as Hannah Montana, Lizzie McGuire, Phineas and Ferb, and That’s So Raven. He has even launched Disney Junior with the classic Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

With three decades of experience and knowledge of creating the show, our Tinker Bell seems to be in safe hands.
