Tom Cruise Turns Top Gun: Maverick’s Red Carpet into a Helipad

Tom Cruise has taken red carpet entry up several notches.

For an actor who does his own gravity-defying stunts, it was still exciting for audiences to see Cruise ride a helicopter for the premiere of his long-awaited upcoming movie, Top Gun: Maverick.

The red carpet for Top Gun 2 took place on a rooftop, and Cruise treated it as grandly as one could imagine. The actor stepped out of the chopper, looking handsome in a dark gray suit with a tie and, of course, aviator sunglasses.

Cruise walked with a beaming smile towards the red carpet to join his fellow Top Gun 2 co-stars such as Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, and Monica Barbaro, among others.

Take a look at his incredible helicopter entry below:

More than the repeatedly delayed Top Gun 2, Cruise’s entry dominated the entire buzz surrounding the movie.

Publications earlier reported that the actor flew the helicopter himself. Considering he has a pilot’s license and partakes in his own action stunts, many found it believable.

However, Cruise then clarified to ET that he wasn’t piloting the chopper.

“No, not today. I do fly that helicopter, but not today.”

In an interview with ET, co-star Teller even joked that he asked the team if he could make a splashing entry like Cruise, but they refused. He then muttered to himself that he wasn’t “that cool” in comparison to the lead actor.

Meanwhile, the 59-year-old actor will return to his role of Naval aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell after 36 years since the first Top Gun movie in 1986.

As enthusiasm continues to rise, co-star Jon Hamm shared that the sequel will “forget about the last two years” of being stuck in the pandemic and would want to fill the theaters to experience it.

Top Gun: Maverick will be released in theaters on May 27.
