Tom Cruise Suits up for Train Stunt in New ‘Mission Impossible 7’ Photo

Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible films always include his character Ethan Hunt doing some bizarre stunt or the other. Whether it be hanging from a plane, jumping off it, riding a bike through steep spaces, or fighting on train rooftops, the series always has some form of acrobatics on public transport.

Writer and director Christopher McQuarrie recently gave us a sneak peek of Cruise on top of a train, to no one’s surprise, doing his own stunts. Cruise proved to be a hero in real life as well when he rushed to help a cameraman on top of a moving train after the latter lost his balance on the sets of the upcoming movie.

On May 7, Cruise graced the cover of Empire Magazine and talked about the responsibility he felt for “saving the cinemas.” In one of the photos, Tom can be seen hanging on the side of a train engine, wearing a crisp blue suit, on the set of MI7.

“I’ve produced 30 to 40 movies. I am responsible for thousands, if not tens of thousands, of jobs. All my friends in the industry, people that are in distribution, and my crew were like, ‘What are we going to do? I could lose my house!’ So, I told the studio, and I told the industry, ‘We’re going back. We’re going to get everyone back to work. We’re going to start shooting in the summer. And we’re going to figure out how to do it safely.'”

Cruise also talked about creating protocols with studios and insurance companies and working on convincing places including Abu Dhabi, Norway, and Italy to let filming go ahead while travel was mainly banned.

From the get-go, he has been very serious about maintaining safety protocols while shooting amidst the pandemic. Last December, in a leaked audio clip obtained by The Sun, Cruise was heard cussing out some crew members on the set for not following COVID regulations during production.

“If I see you do it again, you’re f***ing gone. And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it—and you too, and you too. And you, don’t you ever f***ing do it again. We are not shutting this f***ing movie down. Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re f***ing gone.”

After another such recent outburst from Cruise, five members of the MI7 crew have reportedly left and quit the production. Cruise is reportedly dedicated to getting everything running smoothly. He paid around $671,207 (£500,000) for the movie’s cast and crew to isolate on an old cruise ship in order to follow strict COVID isolation rules.

The production has already hit a few speed bumps with multiple delays. One of the incidents included 150 extras not being allowed to shoot scenes in Venice after a COVID outbreak.

McQuarrie hasn’t announced the titles for MI7 and MI8 yet. Production began under the working title of ‘Libra’; however, it won’t lead us anywhere as MI6: Fallout was made under the working title of ‘Gemini.’

The film was initially set for a 2021 release; however, various production delays resulted in the dates being pushed back even further. According to Deadline, Mission: Impossible 7 will debut on May 27, 2022, whereas Mission: Impossible 8 on July 7, 2023.

Although the characters haven’t been revealed yet, the new cast members include Pom Klementieff, Hayley Atwell, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Shea Whigham, Esai Morales, and Rob Delaney.
