The actor was busy filming Apple TV+’s The Essex Serpent in England while Thor: Love and Thunder recently wrapped shooting in Australia.

Hiddleston told Empire (via Digital Spy),

“We talked about the Thor movies as a family saga, and the diametric opposition between Thor and Loki and duality and antagonism being a book that perhaps should remain closed for the moment. We have explored about as much as we can about these two brothers.”

Hiddleston recently talked to Entertainment Weekly about his MCU future post the series,

“I’m open to everything. I have said goodbye to the character. I’ve said hello to the character. I have said goodbye to the character [again]. I’ve learned not to make assumptions, I suppose. I’m just grateful that I’m still here, and there are still new roads to explore.”

Even though fans would feel the absence of Hiddleston’s Loki, Matt Damon’s ‘Fake Loki’, who first appeared in Thor: Ragnarok, will be returning for Thor: Love and Thunder. When asked about this, Hiddleston told Decider,

“Well, I have no ownership as you know. Loki contains multitudes, and he contains Matt Damon. I was so amused on that—I can’t remember, it was a couple of days on Ragnarok when he came in and did his thing. It was like looking into a very slightly distorted mirror. And his take on the whole thing was just hilarious, so I can’t wait to see what they’ve been doing.”

Matt Damon, Sam Neill and Luke Hemsworth’s Asgardian stage actors all survived Asgard’s destruction, as they’re back to star in a new play during Thor: Love and Thunder. This time the play will also feature ‘Fake Hela’, who’ll be played by Melissa McCarthy.
