The romantic-horror film tells the story of a sensitive, bullied 12 year old boy named Oskar (Kare Hedebrant) who strikes a friendship with a young girl named Eli (Lina Leandersson). But Eli has a mysterious secret, and Oskar slowly gets involved in it.

The film is based on the 2004 novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
