Paramount Releases Details For Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts

The next Transformers film finally has a movie title – Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, announced by Paramount via a virtual press conference on June 22. It will serve as a direct sequel to Transformers: Bumblebee and overall is the seventh installment of the Cybertronian movie franchise.

The panelists, which included producer Lorenzo di Bonaventure andcast members Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback playing the human characters in the movie, offered insights on what we can expect.

Optimus Prime, once again, takes the stage as the main protagonist. As the title gives away, the movie will be exploring the Transformers’ Beast War storyline. The original mythology ran through as a CGI series from 1996 to 1999.

Weaving a cohesive narrative between the original Beast Wars and the running movie universe, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, will be set in 1994 New York and jump back and forth to Machu Picchu, Republic of Peru.

“One of the driving decisions along the way is, ‘Have we done that before?’ whether that’s an action scene or a character.”

Indeed, expanding beyond the familiar tribes of alien robots, Rise of the Beats will be focusing on the Autobots and Decepticons war in a more primal way, along with the introduction of new factions such as the Maximals, Predacons and the Terracons.

Director Steven Caple Jr goes into more detail, here.

“So…in our film, they’re these prehistoric animals that travel through time and space, and we find them here on Earth. The Predacons in our film are more reptilian in nature. We’ve seen a few in other Transformers films, but [in the new film], we get to see another side of them. It’s all about building a backstory to these characters, and we’ll see that more on the Predacon and Terracon side.”

As for the humans dabbling in this ultra sci-fi realm, Fishback takes on the role of Elena, an artifact researcher, while Ramos will play Noah, an ex-militant and a “tech prodigy who can fix anything.”

Other characters to expect on screen are Bumblebee, Scourge, Acree, Mirage, Nightbird, Airazar, Rhinox and most awaited –  Optimus Primal.

The first five Transformers movies were directed by Michael Bay, a fan favourite who brought many of the Transformers elements to life.

Steven Caple Jr who will be directing Rise of the Beasts, has promised to do the previous director justice, stating that in terms of magnitude we can expect the spectacle, action and heart that we always associate with the Transformers.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is destined for theatres on June 24, 2022.
