‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’ Free to Watch on Netflix YouTube for 48 Hours

To commemorate the verdict’s 51st anniversary, The Trial of the Chicago 7 will be available for free on Netflix’s YouTube channel for 48 hours.

Penned and orchestrated by Aaron Sorkin, the legal drama centers around a group of anti-Vietnam protesters prosecuted in late 1969 for provoking violence at the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago. It stars an ensemble crew consisting of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Flaherty, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Jeremy Strong, Noah Robbins, Alex Sharp, and Mark Rylance.

Those who haven’t had the luck to see the film have an easy shot to check it out, The Wrap notes. Streaming starts on Friday, February 19, at Midnight PT, to celebrate the trial’s judgment at the center of the story. While explaining why his movie would be available on YouTube for the brief window, Sorkin said that he aimed to honor the courageous patriots that inspired The Trial of the Chicago 7, and still continue to do so for generations of Americans.

Ever since its premiere on Netflix in October 2020, the courtroom drama has bagged five Golden Globes. It is regarded by many to be in contention at the Academy Awards. Apart from the notable cast’s extraordinary performances and Sorkin’s signature screenwriting, the film touches on precise subjects.
