It’s been a while since season 2 of Umbrella Academy premiered. Yes, even though the season finale was in July 2020, we deem it long enough to wait around for the bombastic show to grace our screens again. And luckily for us, it seems like the wait won’t be too long.
That’s right, folks. Umbrella Academy is back to filming! The show’s star, Elliot Page, recently posted a set photo on Instagram confirming the news. Season 3 will also have some new villains and additional characters joining, who were cast in January and will play important roles in the upcoming season.
Furthermore, it has also been reported that original cast members will be getting an impressive pay raise due to the success of the show.
The season 2 finale, which ended on a high note, showed the original Hargreeves children travelling to a different timeline, where they find Ben and Reginald. Still alive in the alternate timeline, Ben now commands a new group of children with superpowers, known as the Sparrow Academy.
Elliot Page, who plays Vanya, is one of the seven Hargreeves children brought up by billionaire Reginald Hargreeves, who trains them to be superheroes-for-hire. The ensemble cast includes Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Minh, who play the other 6 Hargreeves children.
Page’s Instagram post, however, gives little away. The photo, which features a close-up of one of the cast member’s chairs, doesn’t reveal much, except for the umbrella insignia with a sparrow on top, hinting at the upcoming Sparrow Academy. His caption, which read, “Omg, we’re back again ☂,” could barely contain his delight.
As filming seems to be in motion, it probably won’t be long until the debut. The previous season, which came out in summer 2020, and season 1 in early 2019, should probably put season 3 on track with a late 2021 premiere.
Nonetheless, season 3 will be one to watch out for, it seems!
