Is Venom Afraid Of Carnage? Know More In The New Trailer

Get ready for this full course meal — Sony has just released a new trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

The trailer gives us a glimpse of Venom’s current state, as well as the origins of Cletus Kasady’s “Carnage” we’re about to encounter. The movie will center around a showdown between the two.

Carnage’s arrival was teased in Venom’s after credit scenes. The sequel will start off with Tom Hardy’s Brock attempting to return to his journalism career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady played by Woody Harrelson. Kasady will host the title alien symbiote Carnage.

The new trailer, dated August 2, was showcased first on Twitter and subsequently on Youtube. Watch here:

There are a few key revelations that were not dwelled upon in the previous trailer. For one, we all know it is no easy task to host an alien symbiote that is more than prone to fatal violence.

In the aftermath of 2018’s Venom, we see Venom and Brock make a pact to take bad guys down. But the new trailer reveals that Venom may be growing slightly out of control.

If they really want to make good on their mission and eventually face off Carnage, the two will need to work out the chinks in their relationship.

But even Venom, who constantly growls “I want to eat their head off” as his primary response, seems like a cutie patootie in front of Carnage.

In what would be a comedic moment for the audience in the trailer, Venom refuses to come on at the sight of a “red” alien symbiote. This is also a nod to the fact that Venom has never seen an alien symbiote like Carnage before.

Carnage in all respects is very different from Venom, despite being his canonical alter-ego. In comics, he’s drawn out to be more dangerous and volatile than Venom.

It may be why Venom seems a little hesitant to attack Carnage head-on, but we’re sure that not going to stop him for long — After all, Venom does like devouring anything in its way and bad guys are tastier!

When Woody Harrelson’s Kasady transforms into Carnage, we see that the process looks barbaric and convulsive. Kasady’s toxic past will feed into strengthening Carnage.

The red alien symbiote is seen to grow more powerful, being able to dodge bullets and create lethal weapons out of its own body.

Kasady will also be joined by villain paramour Shriek played by Naomie Harris. Shriek’s appearance in the trailer is limited but we do get acquainted with her powers to manipulate sound.

Reprising their roles from the first movie are Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Reid Scott as Dan Lewis and Peggy Lu as Mrs Chen. Kelly Marcel also returned as co-writer, with Andy Serkis in the director’s chair.

The new trailer teases an impending face-off between Venom and Carnage. We can’t wait to know how that plays off! For now, the movie is labelled as a theatre-exclusive release, to be experienced in Real D 3D and IMAX 3D on September 24.

About Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Andy Serkis. A sequel to 2018’s Venom, it is based on the Marvel Character of the same name. Tom Hardy will be reprising his role as journalist Eddie Brock/ Venom and newcomer Woody Harrelson will play psychotic serial killer Cletus Kasady/ Carnage, in the second installment. Further cast includes Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Naomie Harris.

Venom ended with the symbiote destroying Carlton Drake, the symbiote Riot, and the Life Foundation’s spaceship. Thus  the world was saved. In a mid-credits scene, Brock was invited to interview incarcerated serial killer Cletus Kasady, who promised “carnage” when he escaped. This was Woody Harrelson’s Carnage reference.

Now, the trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage teased the appearance of another symbiote Toxin through his host, Patrick Mulligan.
