Vin Diesel Teases Development On Riddick 4 Is Progressing Rapidly

The upcoming installment in the Chronicles of Riddick franchise has picked up speed after practically having no development since its talks first began in 2014.

Vin Diesel took to Instagram to give fans an update about Riddick 4: Furya and said that he has been having some fruitful discussions/meetings with Universal.

In the video, Diesel revealed that he has been busy, adding,

For all of you out there that have been asking about Riddick, today was another great day. Thank you Universal, for always believing in that IP. I’m very excited about it, I hope you guys are too.

The franchise first started way back in 2000 with Pitch Black. The film first introduced us to Richard B. Riddick, the anti-hero in this sci-fi tale, followed by two more sequels, The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) and Riddick (2013).

The Riddick franchise could be considered one of the “holy trinity” for Diesel, along with XXX and Fast & Furious – both of which also launched in the early 2000s.

Obviously, Diesel would want fans to be hyped about the franchise’s return as he has constantly been posting updates ever since he revealed that the film’s script was completed earlier this year.

The franchise has developed a solid fan following over the years, making it a cult classic, just like Diesel’s other film series. Fans can rest assured knowing franchise director David Twohy is returning alongside Diesel, seeming more determined than ever to finally make it happen.

Although not much is known about the project yet, the actor had previously teased the plot way back in 2015 and said it would explore more about the origins of his character and how the Furyan fugitive became who he was.

Diesel might get to focus more on Riddick’s adventures as his other famous franchise, Fast & Furious, wraps up with two final installments, the first of which is set for a release on April 7, 2023.

Riddick 4: Furya is the fourth movie installation in The Chronicles of Riddick franchise. The movie is developed by Vin Diesel (also starring as the film’s Richard B. Riddick) and writer-director David Twohy. Riddick 4’s release date is yet TBA.

The Chronicles of Riddick is set on a deserted planet plagued by monsters that hunt at night. Riddick, who crashes onto the planet during transit between prisons, joins the crew attempting to kill the monsters and escape to his home planet Furya.
