Hawkeye Ep 5: Clint Turns into Ronin to Take Down Kingpin

The mysterious uncle has finally been unveiled, and it is everything we hoped for. While Vincent D’Onofrio was always part of Marvel, let’s welcome him back as Kingpin in Hawkeye Episode 5!

Clint decides the best way to shake Maya off his trail is to have a one-on-one fight in his Ronin suit, where he reveals that he is Ronin.

Clint Barton

But that’s not all—Clint also explains that the only reason he had a lead on Maya’s father and was able to kill him is that one of the Tracksuit bros ratted him out. He indicates that it is her dear uncle and boss who is behind the information leak.

(This fits in with the comic book backstory of Kingpin killing Maya’s father and blaming Daredevil. Hawkeye replaces Daredevil with Ronin).

While Maya goes on the offense with Clint, she does seem to believe him. She later questions Kazi’s whereabouts on the night of her father’s murder.

Kate, on the other hand, is forced to have a “girls’ night” with Yelena, who informs her that she has been hired by an unknown client to kill Clint. (Side note: I cannot get enough of Kate and Yelena being frenemies!)

Clint and Kate are finally reunited, and the Avenger has to be grateful for her partnership even if he doesn’t express it. After all, she does save him within an inch of his life during his fight with Maya.

It is here, during their jolly breakfast with Grills and Lucky the Pizza Dog, that Kate receives a text from Yelena revealing that it was Eleanor Bishop who hired the Black Widow to kill Clint. And oh, she is in cahoots with none other than Kingpin!

Someone call 911 and free Jack Duquesne. You have the wrong person in custody.

My favorite moment this episode has got to be experiencing the Blip from Yelena’s perspective. But I still find it strange that Yelena is so blind with hate for Clint that she tried to kill him without giving him even a chance to explain Natasha’s death.

The penultimate episodes of all Marvel-Disney shows have not disappointed so far, and there are only bigger things in store for the Hawkeye finale, releasing next week on December 22.

PS: Does Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in Hawkeye mean we will see Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home? My gut says yes.
