The day is finally here- after months of Marvel teasing its fans about the first project of its upcoming Phase 4, the mysterious WandaVision has premiered on Disney+. Fans had been intrigued with the numerous trailers of the show, which showed Marvel wading into unknown waters.
WandaVision is a superhero show disguised as a sitcom. The series is a tribute to the classic sitcoms of American television and the protagonists, Wanda and Vision, travel through the 50s, 60s and 70s while living their quirky sitcom lives.
The show’s first two episodes have been made available to stream on the 15th of January and within minutes of its premiere, has racked up millions of views.
However, it is a sad time for Marvel fans who are bingers and/or are exclusive Netflix subscribers. The magic of WandaVision will elude them for some time.
1. Can you Stream it on Netflix?
Unfortunately for Netflix subscribers, WandaVision is not coming to the streaming platform anytime soon.
The bad news applies to subscribers of other OTT platforms as well- it is highly improbable that the show will be available to be streamed at any other streaming service.
Disney is one of the most important producers of Marvel movies and (recently) television shows, and all of the upcoming shows of Marvel’s Phase 4 will debut as Disney+ originals. This means that WandaVision will be streaming exclusively at Disney+ only.
As is the norm with the MCU, WandaVision will be a crucial part of the joint story that Phase 4 will be about. If you consider yourself a die-hard Marvel fan, it is your acid test. If you cannot afford to miss any of the pieces in the big-picture puzzle, now might be the best time to think of getting a Disney+ subscription. With many other Marvel tv shows coming up in the summer, it might well be worth the while.
2. Is it a Weekly Show?
Yes, we are going back to weekly episodes, just like it used to be in cable television shows.
If you are one of those people who likes to binge entire seasons of shows in one night, bad luck to you since that won’t be possible with WandaVision.
Subscribers of Disney+ will notice that WandaVision premiered with not one, but two episodes. That is the amount of WandaVision that will be available to fans for a week.
Inspired by the format that most shows during the pandemic lockdown adopted, the Marvel show will drop one episode every Friday. With seven more episodes to come, WandaVision will have its finale sometime in March.
