We Own This City Episode 6: Release Date, Recap, and Speculation

In last week’s episode, federal agents Erika Jenson and Sieracki continue their interrogation into the GTTF. Gondo and Rayam end up turning on each other and this brings to light Rayam’s history of wrongful shootings. As the episode progresses, more incidents of racketeering, robbery, racially motivated wrongful arrests, and overtime fraud are revealed. The DOJ’s office plans to implement a consent decree, which would require an expansion in the department’s budget.

Rayam reveals that Jenkins’ squad at the GTTF was in so deep stealing drugs and money during raids that at one point they started to steal from one another and did this while knowing there was a federal investigation underway. We can expect to see more developments in the investigation of the GTTF as the charges against the seven officers are declared.

We Own This City Episode 5 Recap

The Feds continue their interrogation of Gondo. They use the statements of his teammate Rayam to get him riled up and reveal more information. He ends up revealing that Rayam cheated on his wife with a woman who was providing them intel on drug-related cases. Eventually, both of them turn on each other and start revealing incriminating facts about the other.

Erika expresses her shock at the fact that Rayam got suspended after a wrongful shooting and instead of facing any real consequences, he was transferred to the most elite squad on the BPD. In a flashback to May 2016, we see Detective Sean Suiter struggle to get eyewitness accounts of a homicide as the locals were hesitant to engage with the police.

Meanwhile, as the DOJ office works on the consent decree, Nicole goes to speak to another man that Hersl robbed. He tells her that Hersl robbed him of all the cash that he’d just gotten as his pay while working as a repairman. He was wrongfully arrested and never even got to speak to a public defender. To make matters worse, he lost his job due to being in jail for two days and had no choice but to sign away his rights to sue the state in exchange for being released on the spot without charges.
