Netflix’s latest hit is the spooky show Wednesday, which follows the iconic Wednesday Addams in a new iteration as she enrolls into a supernatural boarding school and fights monsters of all sorts.
As exciting as that premise is, some parents might be concerned about whether or not the show is appropriate for kids.
Wednesday has a U/A 13+ certificate on Netflix, which means that kids under the age of 13 should watch this under parental guidance. However, the show might not be suitable for a younger audience due to its scary and mature themes, violence, and profanity.

Scary and Mature Themes
To begin with, Wednesday deals with many themes that may not be appropriate for kids. As the character is a patron of horror, the show embraces many supernatural, scary elements—which is evident in both its visuals and dialogues.
Along with this, the show’s narrative surrounds teenagers who are at boarding school. It is bound to explore teenage feelings and romance, and so there are a few scenes where the characters engage in such explorations. It might be too early to handle such subjects with kids under the age of 10.
Violence
Since this show is delivered through the imagination of Tim Burton, there are quite a few scenes that are violent in nature. In the first scene itself, Wednesday unleashes piranhas into a pool, attacking one of the swimmers, who then bleeds out into the pool.
Besides this, the monster depicted in the show is quite violent, and the same is reflected in the dismembered state of its victims’ bodies. These scenes, too, do not shy away from being as gory as possible.
Profanity
While there is not a lot of foul language used in the show, a considerable amount of dialogues use mild profanities. Some characters also use gestures that can be considered offensive as well.
