Explained: Moon Knight’s Powers in the MCU

Three episodes of Moon Knight have come out so far, and the anti-hero, or should I say the anti-heroes, have impressed us with their quirks. This is the first MCU title that delves into Egyptian mythology, and the different gods present play a significant role in the story.

While the history and the stories of the myth are excellently unraveling before us, one thing that remains ambiguous is Moon Knight itself. To be more specific, we still don’t know what his superpowers are in the MCU.

If you’ve been wondering this too, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s jump in.

In the MCU, Moon Knight has various powers, including summoning the suit, superhuman strength, agility, durability, and regenerative healing.

Moon Knight’s Powers in the MCU

In the Disney+ TV series, we have not seen his powers be explained explicitly. This is understandable because the show’s premise and the story are not a superhero origin tale.

However, we are constantly left guessing what he can do, and like the twists in the show, we’re only discovering them with each episode. So far, we’ve seen the knight in the dull white armor perform incredible deeds. Here’s a list of all his powers we’ve seen until Episode 3.

I. Summoning the Suit

Marc Spector and Steven Grant can summon suits at their will. While the former adorns the suit of ceremonial armor, the latter flaunts a sleek white business suit. Both these suits seem to endure attacks and can protect the person wearing them from damage.

II. Superhuman Strength

The anti-hero surely possesses superhuman strength as we see him fight multiple men at the same time, knocking them out and sending them flying across the frame. In fact, even when Steven summons the suit, he can throw a good punch at the wolf.

III. Superhuman Endurance

Moon Knight can endure almost anything. We see him jump across buildings, land from great heights, and even get stabbed with multiple spears at the same time. However, Marc/Steven is unfazed by any of this. We only see that the clothes they wear underneath get damaged.

IV. Superhuman Agility

This is yet another evident trait Moon Knight has. The way he could scale buildings while fighting the wolf or even fighting people at Mogart’s place is proof of this.

He’s able to move swiftly from one position to another and even cover long distances. The way he saves Layla when she’s in trouble shows this.

V. Regenerative Healing

Both Marc and Steven seem to have this power. The way they recover from their wounds is quite fast. This could be because the body is Khonshu’s avatar, and he’s given it this power. When they have the suit on, there’s not even a scratch on them.

VI. Manipulating the Sky

This is yet another power that Khonshu seems to have given Moon Knight. In Episode 3, when Layla has to track the coordinates with the help of the stars, both Khonshu and Steven shift the sky to how it looked like about 2000 years ago when the map was made.

These are all the powers of Moon Knight in the show. However, you’d be surprised by some of the character’s powers in the comics.

Moon Knight’s Powers in Marvel Comics

Moon Knight has numerous powers that have developed and evolved across comics and stories in the comics. Some of his most fascinating powers are:

I. Visions and Dreams

He can have visions and dreams as premonitions in the comics. This doesn’t happen regularly but on certain occasions, depending upon who he’s fighting and what he’s fighting for.

II. Controlling Thor’s Mjolnir

If you’re wondering how come Moon Knight could control Thor’s hammer that chooses only the worthy, the answer is a little convoluted. Moon Knight can control objects made of metals/stones originating from moons.

Moon Knight

Thor’s Mjolnir comes from a dying star whose material was present on a moon. So, just for a few moments, Moon Knight could control the hammer.

III. Immortality

Marc Spector is immortal as long as he is Khonshu’s avatar in the comics. This is a superpower that he didn’t possess right from the beginning but was later granted by the Egyptian God.

IV. Combat Skills

Marc Spector is one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the MCU. While we know Captain America can do it all day, and recently the Taskmaster has also performed some incredible feats, Moon Knight’s not far behind.

The character is adept in boxing, kung fu, karate, eskrima, judo, and even ninjutsu. This is partly because of Spector’s past as a mercenary, a CIA operative, and a marine.

These are a few of the many other powers that the character has in the comics. Hopefully, we’ll get to see a couple of these in the show, in the upcoming episodes.
