Will WB make another grave mistake or cash in on #RestoreTheSnyderVerse?

Talks about #RestoreTheSnyderVerse continue to gain momentum as it is more than impossible for fans to let go of the incredible stories Zack Snyder has planned.

Right now, there are no plans (at least ones that have been made public) that the SnyderVerse will be restored. This situation comes even though fans all around the globe have showcased their vehement support for the revival of director Zack Snyder’s vision.

May 20, 2020 witnessed the unimaginable when Zack Snyder’s cult following forced Warner Bros. to officially announce the release of the Director’s Cut of the 2017 box-office flop, Justice League. A year later, when the 4-hour movie was released on HBO Max, Snyder and his following found salvation.

The movie, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, was drastically different from the version put together and added on to his work by Joss Whedon of Avengers’ fame. Despite its 4-hour length, the movie showed a deeper and more evolved screenplay, performances, and overall plot, with branches that spread out even further.

While Snyder has talked about how his vision includes two further sequels to the movie, WB has shut down any chances of that. Much of that is thanks to the never-seem-to-be-settling beef between WB and the director. This comes after Snyder’s revelations that the overall plotline has already been mapped.

As per his tweets and other talks, the next installment was supposed to focus on Knightmare, the apocalyptic future where Superman turns evil after the death of Lois Lane, and the remaining members of the Justice League become a rebel group to bring him down. A short part of the vision, a teaser, was shown at the end of Snyder’s version of Justice League.

So, while the chances of whether the SnyderVerse ever comes to fruition remain almost zero, the filmmaker’s cult fan following might make WB fall on its knees again. Fans have done so once, and after getting a glimpse of the impeccable story that Snyder has planned, are more than capable of doing it again.

Snyder’s Justice League was released exactly a year ago, on March 18, and the anniversary has fans worldwide demanding more movies.

Justice League

The current state of the DC Universe (or rather, multiverse, what with all the numerous plots) clearly shows a lot of room for continued projects from Snyder. DC has, and will further receive, massive success from Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, Joaquin Phoenix’s The Joker, the highly-anticipated multiverse in The Flash (with not just three versions of Flash, but also Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck’s versions of the Batman).

While a part of the original Justice League will continue with Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ezra Miller’s Flash, the future of other powerhouses such as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg is unclear. Along with them, it has been reported that the upcoming Flash movie will feature Ben Affleck’s final portrayal as Batman.

The future of Henry Cavil’s Superman is also unclear, especially with the announcement of two Superman projects unrelated to him. These include a Michael B. Jordan produced series focused on Val-Zod, and a movie that will spotlight a Black Superman.

These projects and their past or future success have confirmed that there is more than enough room for Zack Snyder’s continued vision to exist in its own bubble in the DCEU. Warner Bros. should greenlight Zack Snyder and his projects to cultivate further monetary benefits, fan love, and evolution of storytelling. It would definitely be a grave mistake not to.
