Marvel just dropped a mid-season sneak peek for What If…? and strap in because it’s about to be a bumpy ride through the multiverse.
The teaser shows what fans can expect from the final four episodes of the animated series on Disney+. Doctor Strange Supreme and Party Thor find themselves against Marvel Zombies. Black Widow, The Winter Soldier, Captain Carter, and Spider-Man appeared for a quick second as well.
Two Doctor Strange(s) will have a face-off as Scarlet Witch is seen right in the next shot. But hold on… Is iron man using the Infinity Gauntlet again? How will the series repeat the main timeline’s events?
Starlord T’Challa and Howard the Duck seem like an odd pairing but already highly entertaining. In other blink-and-miss moments, Ego, Peter Quill, Korg, Grandmaster, The Ancient One, Hope van Dyne/Wasp, Ant-Man, and Hawkeye can be seen as well.
A voice can be heard saying, ‘Why stop at one hero when we can show you all of them?’ hinting at a multiversal showdown. This may or may not be a ‘sampler’ for what’s in store for Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
As seen through the eyes of The Watcher, the series reimagines famous events from the MCU in unexpected ways that will shake up the timeline and have the fans wondering, ‘What If…?’
It is directed by Bryan Andrews, with AC Bradley serving as head writer. Season 2 has been greenlit already and will consist of 9 episodes. You can bet that Season 1 finale won’t be an ending but a key to opening up a myriad of possibilities.
What If…? Episode 6 is set to debut on Disney+ on September 15, with Episode 7 and Episode 8 on the following Wednesdays each.
The series will premiere its season finale (Episode 9) on October 6.

What If…? is an American animated anthology series created by A.C. Bradley for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name.
It explores what would happen if major moments from the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) occurred differently.
The series is produced by Marvel Studios, their first animated series since becoming their own production company. Bradley serves as head writer of the series, with Bryan Andrews directing.
Jeffrey Wright stars as the Watcher, who narrates the series. By September 2018, Marvel Studios was developing a number of series for Disney+, and one based on the What If…? comic was first reported in March 2019.
