Iron Man Fans Begin Campaign with #BringBackTonyStarkToLife in LA

Marvel fans have started to campaign for the revival of Tony Stark in the MCU. As the franchise’s inaugural character, Stark has played a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its genesis.

However, his time came to an end in Avengers: Endgame after he sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos.

But now, two years after his death, fans of the iconic character seem to be holding out hope for a comeback. One of them announced on Twitter that they had rented a billboard in LA to campaign for Tony Stark’s restoration to the MCU.

The banner urges people to use the hashtag #BringBackTonyStarkToLife to mark the second anniversary of his final appearance, on April 24th.

Even though the original tweet has since been deleted, the billboard announcement remains. A change.org petition has been circulating as well for the purpose.

A similar campaign was first spearheaded by DC fans who put up a billboard in Times Square with the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut in October 2019. It proved fruitful when Warner Bros. decided to go ahead with it in 2020, culminating in the movie finally getting released in 2021.

Thus, for Marvel fans to employ the same plan could bear results, considering that even the Russo brothers have said that they would like to see Iron Man’s return if it is “earned.”

The MCU has previously faked deaths of other noteworthy characters like Nick Fury in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which does assure some standing chance for Stark’s comeback.

However, it would subvert the narrative of his heroic death and the emotional standoff which marked his incredible legacy.

Tony Stark’s last Iron Man movie came out in 2013 as a part of Marvel’s Phase Two. But he continued to play a significant role in other movies like 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and all of the Avengers films.

Robert Downey Jr. was initially selected for the role by Jon Favreau, who directed the first Iron Man movie.

Initially, Marvel refused Downey Jr.’s casting several times due to his marketability then, but Favreau’s dedication towards having the actor play the role saw him finally become Iron Man.

His portrayal of Stark became of huge pop culture significance in cinema history, and the character’s death marked the end of an era.

But with the efforts of fan-motivated campaigns, a reappearance by the beloved “genius, playboy, billionaire, philanthropist” could likely become a reality.
