‘A Quiet Place’ Could Reportedly Have Another Sequel

Following the release of A Quiet Place Part II this Friday, a third installment is reportedly in the works. John Krasinski’s 2018 horror film A Quiet Place was a massive success and became a surprise franchise starter for Paramount. Here’s what to expect from the not-yet-announced third movie in the new series.

Although Paramount and Platinum Doves moved quickly enough to turn the standalone feature into a franchise, no official plans for a Part III have been confirmed yet. Back in November 2020, Mud director Jeff Nichols was announced to be writing and directing a spin-off project based on an original idea from Krasinski, who will produce it.

However, the actor could pursue the Abbott family’s story with another sequel since A Quiet Place Part II sets up how the franchise can move further to form a complete trilogy. To back it up, Emily Blunt recently also revealed that Krasinski is interested in a third film.

But the lack of an announcement for Part III isn’t much of a concern as the project should get the green signal provided that A Quiet Place Part II is a success, much like its predecessor. Having said that, the probability of the second film following in the footsteps of the first in terms of success seems very unlikely, considering the pandemic’s toll on the cinema industry.

The reduced theater capacities and other disadvantageous factors leave the sequel to fight an uphill battle. Paramount is bound to factor the outcome into their decision to approve the third film.

The theequel does not have a timeline at the moment and won’t have one until the studio officially confirms it. While filming for the third movie could have been implemented last year, the COVID lockdowns were a likely restriction. As of now, the best-case scenario should put the release sometime in 2023 or the spring of 2024.

The official plot for a possible Part 3 has not been made available either, but based on Emily Blunt’s statement, Krasinski does have an idea for it. It is safe to say, though, that the next installment will pick up from the events of the recently released film and will continue to see the Abbott family’s struggles against the alien invaders.

Blunt will reprise her role as Evelyn, and Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe are expected to return to play her children, Regan and Marcus. Even though Krasinski’s character Lee died at the end of the first film, brief appearances through flashbacks could see his comeback as well.

As for Part II’s new additions Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou, it remains to be seen whether their characters are brought back for a third film or not.
