Mike Prince Loses $3.5B in Billions Season 6 Finale

Billions Season 6 finale was an intense face-off between Chuck Rhoades and Mike Prince. The episode began with their lawyers by their side and a statement, “At the end of this, one of you will go to the jail.”

Spoilers are ahead and don’t tell me I didn’t warn you. I’ll briefly discuss the episode before moving on to speculating what would happen with Prince in Season 7.

At the end of the episode, we realize that Mike has lost $3.5 billion and also that he’s not a clean billionaire but was indeed committing tax fraud. So, how will Mike Prince recover from this? What will he do in Season 7?

Mike Prince likely has a backup for the $3.5 billion loss, and if not, he’ll go into an all-out war with Chuck Rhoades in Season 7.

Here’s a quick recap for some context. Rhoades Jr. wants to derail his nemesis’ unannounced presidential campaign. So he digs up Kate’s past to make her snitch and then digs deeper into Prince’s financial activities.

He realizes that there are a few black boxes that hold cryptocurrencies worth $3.5 billion. Mike was going to use it to fund his campaign, and as this dawns on Chuck, he knows he’s got the latter into a corner.

It all comes down to the two sitting across each other, with Dave being the mediator who says that one of them will go to jail.

There are numerous black boxes in play that hold crypto assets. However, each of these is safeguarded by a password. One gets only 10 tries, and after that, the box gets locked forever with no way of retrieving the cryptocurrencies.

While the former attorney tries to get the box open with the help of a hacker, Prince maintains he doesn’t know anything about the password. In the end, all ten tries result in an incorrect password.

So Mike loses his $3.5 billion, and Chuck goes to jail for breaking the law and stealing his assets. However, the latter is saved by Dave, who gets him off of any charges through a few loopholes in the system.

This sets the stage for Billions Season 7. Throughout Season 6, we are shown that Mike is a clean guy, but we now know better than that. There was no way a man of his stature and influence was squeaky clean.

Now that this facade is off, I believe either of two things can happen. One is that there’s some backup plan to retrieve his $3.5 billion from the boxes. While that’s not possible in the real world, the writers might just find a way to do that.

In fact, they could even flip the complete scenario by showcasing that those boxes never had the cryptocurrencies in them, despite Mike telling he’s lost the money. On the other hand, we could see our anti-hero go into an all-out war against Chuck.

There’s no way in the world that Prince would keep quiet after this. In Season 6 Episode 1, Wendy mentioned that he is a narcissist, thinking he’s trying to do some good. This makes him even more dangerous because he will not stop until he gets what he wants.

Season 7 could bring out this side of the character, and we might see Chuck face the wrath of a man for whom no ambition is too big. We most likely have to wait until 2023 to see this show again, and I can’t wait.
