The fifth installment of the Evil Dead film series has released on April 21, 2023. After scrapping plans for a sequel to Evil Dead and Army of Darkness and plans for Ash vs Evil Dead Season 4, Evil Dead Rise is finally out to fulfill our needs for more of the horror and gore of the supernatural horror series.

It is written and directed by Lee Cronin and stars Lilly Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland as estranged sisters whose reunion is trespassed by the rise of flesh-possessing demons. In this stand-alone movie, family becomes a nightmare, and a battle for survival begins. The best thing about Evil Dead Rise is that it has received positive reviews from – wait for it- the critics!

So now, for OTT streamers and those to want to rewatch the movie online later, when and where will Evil Rise Dead be available for streaming?

Evil Rise Dead was released theatrically on April 21, 2021. It is expected to stream on Warner Bros. Discovery’s rebranded OTT service, Max, in June 2023. The release date has yet to be officially announced, and the movie can be available between June 9 and June 27.

Evil Dead Rise is currently unavailable for streaming as it had a theatrical release on April 21, 2023. It is expected to hit the online streaming platform Max after its theatrical run, but there is no official announcement regarding its OTT release date yet.

Initially, the sequel was meant to be exclusively released on a streaming service in 2022. And since The Evil Dead franchise has shown best performances in home video rather than on-screen, it was a natural choice. However, with more buzz and enthusiasm awaiting the movie, it has gotten a big-screen release!

Evil Dead Rise has been on its theatrical run since April 21, 2023. It is expected to release on the OTT platform Max in June 2023. Warner Bros. films usually release about 49 to 67 days after their theatrical release, and Evil Dead Rise can release anytime between 9-27 June.

The online release of Evil Dead Rise depends on its performance at the box office. Having received positive critic reviews and praise from the general audience, the streaming release of the movie could be postponed due to great success at the box office and a prolonged theatrical run.

However, New Line Cinema (film label of Warner Bros.) movies generally hit HBO Max sometime between 49 (like House Party) to 67 days (like Shazam! Fury of the Gods) after releasing in theatres. Evil Rise Dead could release anytime between June 9 and June 27, depending on its theatrical success, as there has yet to be an official declaration regarding its OTT release date.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s newly rebranded streaming service, Max (earlier HBO Max), is launching on May 23. As Evil Rise Dead will be one of the first theatrical movies released on the platform, the creators could also push the online release date closer to the start of June to better match with Max’s launch and boost up the platform.

The perfect horror watch, Evil Rise Dead, was released theatrically on  April 21, 2023. The movie is expected to debut online on Warner Bros. Discovery’s newly rebranded service Max in June 2023. It will be available to watch for a subscription.

The movie is expected to follow the trends of earlier Warner Bros. movies and release on the streaming service sometime between June 9 and June 27.

4. Where can I watch movies and TV shows of the Evil Dead franchise?

The installments of the Evil Dead franchise are available on various streaming platforms. The Evil Dead (1981) can be watched on AMC+, Evil Dead II on IndieFlix, Evil Dead (2013) on PlutoTV, and the TV series on Starz and Netflix. Army of Darkness is available for rent/purchase.

Despite being a 40-year-old hit franchise known for its practical visual effects, gore, and horror, its movies and series are not widely available or available on a single platform.

The third installment of the series, Army of Darkness, is not available to stream for free or membership on any OTT platform but is available for purchase or rent on Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, and Apple TV+. The reboot, Evil Dead, can be watched for free on PlutoTV (there is a small catch, though – ads!).

The OG, The Evil Dead, can be streamed online on AMC+, and its sequel Evil Dead II can be watched with a subscription to IndieFlix. As for the Evil Dead TV series, Ash vs Evil Dead, can be streamed on Starz and Netflix, both with a subscription. However, the last date of availability of the show on Netflix is April 28, and thus it would be wise for the uninitiated to subscribe to Starz to watch the three-year worth of episodes.
