Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: When will it come on streaming platforms?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hit theatres this Friday and we’re already waiting for it to arrive on streaming platforms. I would actually urge you to go watch the film in your nearest theatre, if possible. But for those of you who might miss it due to any reason, don’t worry because we have many OTT platforms to our rescue.

As of writing this piece, there has been no official confirmation regarding when we can expect Doctor Strange 2 to arrive on streaming platforms. But considering all MCU films finds it home at Disney+, we can assume the film will drop on Disney+ within 45 days of release.

Multiverse of Madness is currently running in the theatres (as of writing this article), so you cannot expect to find it in any streaming platform, at least not legally. But we can definitely make an assumption about the date.

If everything goes as planned, Doctor Strange 2 should follow the suit of other recent MCU films, such as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which dropped on Disney+ within 45 days of its theatrical release. This is a new model, launched by Disney CEO Bob Chapek.

The model, according to Chapek, is an ‘interesting experiment’ where a Marvel film is available to stream on Disney+ within 45 days of release. It might seem too quick in some cases, since the theatrical run of every film is not the same.

For instance, if the Multiverse of Madness is as huge a success as it is meant to be, it might remain in theatres for more than 45 days. It is rare, but it might happen. Besides, once the film drops on Disney+, none might go to the theatres to watch it.

Nevertheless, as per Chapek’s recent model, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness should be available for streaming on Disney+ around June 11, 2022.

Apart from being available on Disney+, it will also be available to rent through other platforms such as Google Play, Youtube, Amazon Prime Video and Vudu. The film should also be available to purchase as DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. Such home video versions also contain added bonus features.

Since Raimi confirmed that the original cut of the film was way longer than the theatrical version, we can expect many deleted scenes in to be released soon after the film becomes available on various platforms.
