Andrew Garfield Returns with a Crime Thriller Series on Hulu

Under the Banner of Heaven, Andrew Garfield’s upcoming project on Hulu, finally has a release date.

The company announced the premiere date of the crime-thriller on Twitter with the caption, “There’s nothing scarier than the truth.” The series is set for a release on April 28, exclusively on Hulu.

The crime thriller is inspired by Jon Krakauer’s non-fiction book of the same name that dealt with real murders and religious fanaticism.

Garfield returned to the spotlight with Netflix’s musical Tick, Tick… Boom! and then an explosive success with Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As the actor continues to be one of the hottest buzzworthy celebrities, his upcoming mini-series naturally has the audience excited.

Garfield will be playing the role of Detective Pyre, a Mormon who is tasked with investigating a brutal family crime but gets shaken up as he gradually uncovers the truth.

As the story unfolds into a religious crime, Detective Pyre stands divided on what ‘faith’ actually means.

The story revolves around the infamous 1984 incidence where Barbara Wright Lafferty and her infant were murdered.

The crime brought extreme religious violence to the limelight and how people can be blinded by faith to be unfit to judge right from wrong.

The show will also feature Daisy Edgar-Jones as Barbara, widely recognized for her role in the 2020 series Normal People, in the lead role along with Sam Worthington, Denise Gough, Wyatt Russell, and Billy Howle as other Lafferty members.

Under the Banner of Heaven was initially scheduled for a movie adaptation. In June 2021, Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black was roped in to adapt it into a series. It will be helmed by Perfect Sense director David Mackenzie.

Under the Banner of Heaven is receiving a positive response, as is evident by the announcement tweet’s reply section. The eight-episode crime mini-series will be released on April 28 only on Hulu.
