Everything to Know about ‘Lupin’ Part 2 on Netflix

Lupin Part 2 has been officially confirmed by Netflix to be featured in its upcoming slate. The French crime thriller show is a retelling of fictional gentleman thief Arsene Lupin written by Maurice Leblanc.

It follows a professional thief as he takes on the iconic persona to get revenge on a family whose wrongful accusations led to his father’s suicide.

Now, after running for the first five episodes on the streamer, the show will be back to complete the course with Part 2. Yesterday, Netflix released the first looks for the upcoming installment on its Twitter page.

Although the post did not reveal any dates, Netflix did previously announce in January that the show will be back in the summer.

The images see Assane looking over the City of Lights from a clock tower and climbing down a sewer chute. Police officers Romain Laugier, Sofia Belkacem, and Youssef Guedira are also seen flashing their police badges in one image. Another still shows Assane walking with Antoine Guoy, which hints that they still maintain a close relationship. Check the post out here:

This comes as a relief to fans of the show after Netflix announced some of its major hits had been axed. However, there hasn’t been any official news yet regarding Lupin being renewed for a third season.

Significant among the ones canceled is The Irregulars, which premiered in late March and had a second season in the works with filming set to take place in Liverpool. Although the show was very successful amongst viewers, the reason behind its cancellation remains unknown.

Following the teaser from March, Lupin Part 2 will pick up from the cliffhanger in episode 5 with Assane’s son Raoul going missing. The clip reveals Hubert Pellegrini is behind the kidnapping and that he means to use Raoul as bait to get rid of his father. Check out the teaser here:

The show is among the many retellings of the iconic character’s exploits and exists in popular media alongside numerous films, mangas, television series, comics, and more. Leblanc also introduced Lupin to Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes in his works where the detective tries to stop the former from committing theft.

Furthermore, since its release in early January this year, the Netflix show is the first French television series to hit the top 10 in the US. Its success helped it get renewed by the streamer for an additional five episodes.

Part 2 will also look at Assane being held accountable for his actions which put the lives of his loved ones at risk. In the Part 1 finale, he pleads with his ex-wife Claire to give him another chance, but given the current circumstances, the chances of reconciliation seem slim.

Moreover, the writers of the show have confirmed they have future plans for the series, including a Sherlock Holmes crossover. But until Netflix gives it the green signal, Season 3 merely remains a hope.
