Rick and Morty Halloween Short will arrive in time for spooky season.

Although the dates have not been confirmed by Adult Swim schedule yet, CNSchedules on Twitter revealed the when and where for the Halloween short. (via Slash Film)

Season 5 of Rick and Morty concluded just a few days ago, and the Halloween special will give fans new content, but it will be a bit different than usual.

Titled ‘The Great Yokai Battle of Akihabara,’ the tweet revealed that it will air at 11:00 pm Sunday, October 10th. The special will also air on Toonami the following Saturday at 4:15 am, after two Batman movies.

Many fans speculate that it will be animated in an anime style as the episode seems to be inspired by Takashi Miike’s horror fantasy film, The Great Yokai War. The yōkai are mythological beings in Japanese tradition commonly considered as apparition, goblin, ghoul, spirit, or monster.

CNSchedules further clarified that the short is not yet available on Adult Swim’s schedule for the 10th. In fact, the whole slot for 11:00-11:15 pm is blank. However, Adult Swim Canada has the special scheduled on that time slot.

The tweet also pointed out that AS Canada and AS United States generally simulcast premieres, so it’s a safe bet to assume that the information given in the tweet is accurate.

Adult Swim Canada also released a brief synopsis of the special:

Rick plans to build the ultimate AI toaster; Things take a strange turn when he and Morty are forced to travel to Akihabara for spare parts.

Adult Swim has previously dropped other Japanese and anime-influenced episodes for Rick and Morty. Seeing how Cartoon Network Toonami anime block will also air the episode, it will most definitely be inspired by anime style.
