When will The Walking Dead return for Season 11 Part 3?

If you have been a regular follower of the popular zombie drama, the final season of The Walking Dead might seem like the end of an era for you, and rightly so. The Walking Dead is all set to come to an end of its glorious run of 12 years.

The 11th and the final season is supposed to have 24 episodes, out of which 16 episodes have already released. So, that leaves us with 8 more episodes, which are yet to release as Part 3 of Season 11.

As of writing this piece, there has been no official confirmation of a release date for The Walking Dead Season 11 Part 3. But the show is expected to return with its final episodes by the end of August or beginning of September.

When can we expect Walking Dead Season 11 Part 3?

As of now, an official release date for Season 11 Part 3 has not been announced by the makers.

However, going by the earlier release dates of various seasons and parts, we can expect the final episodes of Season 11 to drop in October as new seasons of series generally release around September and October.

However, since AMC had actually released Part 1 in August 2021, Part 3 could follow suit and release in August and continue till October.

How does it end in the comics?

First of all, considering that the show has taken heavy creative liberties and changed much of the original story of the comics, the show may choose to end in a completely different way.

But till we get to watch the last episodes of the much-loved series, we can only make assumptions.

The ending from the comics could give a hint to that, couldn’t it?

The resistance that has been growing among the lower classes of the Commonwealth will definitely play a significant role, leading to Mercer rebelling against Governor Pamela Milton and an eventual breakout of a civil war.

This is similar to how it takes place in the comics.

In the comics, Rick manages to stop the civil war and Pamela is arrested, paving way for a better government. In the end, Sebastian kills Rick and his death actually ends up making way for a better future.

We also see a glimpse of the future with adult Carl in the comics, having his own family, and other characters such as Maggie, Michonne, and Negan still around in the peaceful world which Rick dreamt of.

In the show, however, things may be quite different. Rick will most likely not have a role in the finale, though it is not altogether impossible. Sebastian might kill someone major, but with spinoffs on the cards, the choices are limited.

Part 3 will mostly resolve the conflict with the Commonwealth and also set up the Civil Republic to make way for the spinoffs.

Lastly, we can also expect a new, more peaceful world being built but not end the tracks of various characters, so their story can continue in films and spinoff shows.

About The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a neo-western horror drama that is based on the comic book series of the same name written by Robert Kirkman. It currently stars Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and others.

Rick Grimes, a sheriff’s deputy, wakes up from a coma to find that the world has just gone through a zombie apocalypse. He soon realizes that the world is divided into the zombies- the ‘walkers’- and a group of survivors who will do anything to survive.

The recent season, that is season 11, will adapt material from issues #175–193 of the comic book series and focuses on the group’s encounter with the Commonwealth, a large network of communities that has advanced equipment and almost fifty thousand survivors living in their different settlements.
